NFL Picks Against the Spread: Week 15, 2014

A.J. Green

Revenge week is here! Week 15 in my NFL Picks Against the Spread, feature four games that have the potential for revenge, with two of those games being rematches from Thanksgiving. I also feature a Steelers team heading down south to take on the Falcons. Both teams will be looking to get a win, as they aim for first place in their division.

After Week 14’s 2-3 week, the goal is to get above .500.

While this season hasn’t been what i had hoped for, I’m just taking it one week at a time. A strong finish will have my picks where I need them next season. I’m on to Cincinnati.

Cincinnati Bengals +1 at Cleveland Browns

The Cincinnati Bengals were embarrassed on a Thursday Night against the Cleveland Browns. The Bengals will look to return the favor this Sunday. Johnny Football will get his first start Sunday, replacing Brian Hoyer. The Bengal defense will give Johnny Manziel a variety of looks in hopes of confusing the rookie. As long as bad Andy Dalton doesn’t show up the Bengals will win and cover.

New England Patriots -7.5 v Miami Dolphins

This game is a rematch from Week 1, where the Miami heat got to the Patriots in the second half and saw the Dolphins pull out a win at home. New England was up 10 points at the half and are the better team. This game being at Foxborough will be an advantage for the Patriots who return home after dismantling the Chargers a week ago. The cold weather made the Dolphins unimpressive against the Jets in week 13. I think the Patriots win and win impressively, by double figures.

San Francisco 49ers +10 at Seattle Seahawks

This game is my “Why on earth would you take a team that has looked sub par at best, just lost to the Raiders against a team that won two weeks ago 19-3,” game. Call me crazy but the NFL is a weird league that things happen you would least expect, A week ago a Carolina Panther team that was left for dead, and a double digit underdog went into New Orleans and not only won outright, but won 41-10. This will be a kitchen sink, bring out all the stops game for the 49ers. While i don’t expect the 49ers to win, I expect the game be around a touchdown and they will get the cover.

Pittsburgh Steelers -2.5 at Atlanta Falcons

A week ago both of these teams played well. The Steelers won impressively despite a slow start. Le’Veon Bell has had a monster stretch in their last three games and I don’t see the Falcons being able to slow him down what so ever. The Falcons are trying to remain atop the NFC South but won’t get the win here. They have two division games to finish the season against Carolina and New Orleans. I think they will be slightly distracted against a better football team. The Steelers will win by a field goal or more.

**Upset Alert**

Dallas Cowboys +3.5 at Philadelphia Eagles

The Dallas Cowboys have shown the ability to go on the road, in hostile environments and get a victory. I expect that to happen again this week. Mark Sanchez has played inconsistent at best, despite playing well against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. A heavy dose of Demarco Murray should provide the Cowboys with enough to get a win on the road. Philadelphia will be sluggish after the beating they took a week ago against the Seahawks.
