CLEVELAND BROWNS- Professor’s NFL Team Flash Card. This article focuses on 3 tables and their analysis.

  1. 2020 PPR Rankings with Player Uncertainty Levels
  2. 2016 to 2019 Positional Based PPR Fantasy Point Averages (FPA), Team Usages, and Differences from 2019 to 4-year Averages
  3. 2015 to 2019 Team Level Targets Per Game, 2019 Usage, 5 Year of Targets/Game Usage, and DIFF in 2019.

I suggest these will present a landscape of simple data from 2019 vs the current 2020 preseason rankings. Link to my Current Rankings Below.

2020 PPR Rankings with Player Uncertainty Levels

CLEVELAND BROWNS- Professor’s NFL Team Flash Card.  This Table includes:

  • Team
  • Bye Week
  • Position Rankings
  • Position
  • Overall Name
  • Fantasy Sport’s Professor’s Rankings (Scale of 100 to 0-Green to Red)
  • Uncertainty Level of High, Average or Low

The CLE team DST and Kicker are not on the 2020 draft list this early in the preseason. I do think Mayfield can have some upside but right now I think he is a solid Q16. The confusing issue is he is surrounded by all these solid pass-catchers. He did produce 300 yards but he needs more yard and TDs to move into a solid QB1 type.

The RBs are an interesting tandem of RB1 and RB2 of Chubb and Hunt at 11th and 29th RBs in rankings. Hunt has more uncertainty while Chubb is a solid later RB1 type who can be drafted in confidence. I will like to have both but not sure it is possible to draft both as Hunt as perceived value outside of just a handcuff.

CLE now has a strong TE1 type but is Hooper on a TE intensive team for 2020? The previous CLE TEs have not produced as needed. I love Hooper but have concerns at TE11. Njoku is an injury away from the value and a Best Ball play.

Finally, we arrived at the WRs. I consider in PPR they maybe closer than thought. They are currently ranked by me as RB 14 and 28th. I would draft the cheaper one of Landry.  Love to have both in a Best Ball.

2016 to 2019 Positional Based PPR Fantasy Point Averages (FPA), Team Usages, and Differences from 2019 to 4-year Averages

This table presents:

  • Team
  • Position
  • 2016 to 2019 Fantasy Point Averages
  • 4 Year Sum of Averages
  • % of Positional Usage by the 4-Year Date
  • % of 2019 Team Usages
  • DIFF – 2019 vs last 4-year % Usages (Improving or Declining)

CLEVELAND BROWNS- Professor’s NFL Team Flash Card. 2019 was an ok year for CLE. I think more was expected given the moves CLE did before 2019. Looking at 2019 the QBs improved at 3.3% while TEs dropped with -2.8% over the last 4 years. 2020 sees the same QB in Mayfield but CLE acquired Hooper who loved solid at ATL but ATL used it’s TEs well. CLE has not in the past. That completes the bingo card and CLE thinks it’s ready and it is balanced. I would draft Hooper as a TE1 low player but caution as CLE has a lot of mouths to feed.

RB and WR were fairly average. Given the results it is hard to expect great changes in 2020.  I am not sure the FPs are split in a way that everyone who drafts a CLE RB or WRs is happy. Maybe buy the cheaper options of Hunt and Landry (PPR). CLE has a lot of smoke but is the fire too spread out!

2015 to 2019 Team Level Targets Per Game, 2019 Usage, 5 Year of Targets/Game Usage, and DIFF in 2019.

This table contains:

  • Team
  • Position
  • 2015 to 2019 Targets Per Game
  • 5 Year Average of Targets Per Game
  • %2019 Usages in Targeting
  • % 5-Year Positional Usage Average
  • DIFF 2019 vs 5-Year Average of Team Positional Usages

Overall Comments: 2019 CLE saw an improvement in RB by 5.6% in T/G. The CLE RBs were Nick Chubb RB11, Kareem Hunt RB29, and Dontrell Hilliard RB105. Also, the public believes the Chubb and Hunt will be an RBBC crew and are expected both to be active in 2020 as an RB1 and RB2 type.

The WRs were steady in 2019 and as a group I predict another average T/G 2020. The main CLE WRs are Odell Beckham Jr. WR14 and Jarvis Landry at WR28. I suggest the public is saying both are very active in 2020!

The most interesting aspect of CLE in 2020 is the TE as CLE brought TE11 Hooper in from ATL. He was a very productive TE and the public considers him as a 2020 TE1 type. The issue for me is whose targets does Hooper take in 2020 from the RB or WRs? See the discussion of too many cooks in here.
