Happy Thanksgiving. I’m thankful for those who have made me look like I know what I’m doing, like James Washington and Josh Jacobs. For those who didn’t like Derrius Guice and Patrick Laird, under the table and to the dogs you go. If you’re a glutton for punishment, here are my week 13 starts or sits.
Players who will shine
If you’re shooting for the playoffs in Week 13, load up Russell Gage into your lineup. He’s seen his snap percentage rise to above 50% over the last 4 games and has 7+ receptions in 2 of those. Last week against Tampa Bay, Gage ran ahead of the ailing Julio Jones playing the second most snaps at wide-out. Jones hasn’t practiced all week and is questionable for the Falcons late night feast against the Saints leaving the door open for Gage to play an increased amount of snaps again. With New Orleans struggling to defend the pass recently, and a team averaging around 40 pass attempts/game, double digit targets aren’t out of the question for him. Look for Gage to provide a second helping of dessert.
Prediction: 7 rec 72 yards 1 td: 16.2 pts
Gerald Everett is dealing with yet another injury and the Cardinals are next on the schedule. Arizona has been atrocious against tight ends this season, having allowed 12 scores and almost 850 yards to the position. It is hard not to pick on this matchup until they stop someone, meaning Higbee is primed to produce his best numbers of the season.
Prediction: 5 rec 46 yards 1 td: 13.1 pts
The other Williams, Damien, is dealing with a rib injury and he’s trending towards missing Week 13. If this happens, expect Darrel to step into an almost even time-share with Shady McCoy. This week, Darrel and the Chiefs host a Raiders team who was just crushed by the Jets and on the brink of collapse. Fresh off their bye week, the Chiefs will be firing on all cylinders and looking to end the Raiders playoff hopes. 12-15 touches are guaranteed if Damien misses, and that’s all it will take to find paydirt.
Prediction: 11 car 50 yards 1 td, 3 rec 26 yards: 15.1 pts
Ride the Pine
Who the heck is David Blough? Well, he’s now the Lions starting QB. The Bears need a win, and this game has the lowest implied total of the week. Stay away from all Lions this week if you can.
Prediction: Stay away
He’s never had over 90 yards against Denver, with his most recent matchup yielding only 4 receptions for 18 yards. Chris Harris Jr. is Allen’s kryptonite and will likely shadow the Chargers top receiver on Sunday. A history of poor performances against the Broncos, along with Philip Rivers most recent struggles make Keenan a scary start this weekend.
Prediction: 5 rec 63 yards: 8.8 pts
