2016 IDP ROOKIES (LB) RANKINGS
-
Updated: May 1, 2016

| RANK | PLAYER | TEAM | QUICK HITS |
| 1 | MYLES JACK | JAC | he may have fallen in the draft but has yet to fall from any of my rankings, will make impact right away and possibly start as SAM & move inside in nickel which will leave Poz as a 2-down LB (finally) you’d want to draft Jack late 1st |
| 2 | REGGIE RAGLAND | BUF | has a big heart in real life and on the field, could def squeeze out an every down role in BUF and become a tackle machine for years |
| 3 | DARRON LEE | NYJ | in a good situation, Bowles could use him like Bucannon and that’ll help Lee hit his potential |
| 4 | JAYLON SMITH | DAL | well worth the taxi squad stash to wait & see – you’ll be heartbroken if you miss out on this talent (of course meaning he’s coming back fully recovered) |
| 5 | JOSHUA PERRY | SDC | may not have full impact until ’17 but has all the tools & is a much more complete LB than Te’o who should be a goner after ’16 |
| 6 | DEION JONES | ATL | lack of depth at LB in ATL will help Jones carve out a solid role early and often, could be used like KJ Wright, Jones brings speed to the defense |
| 7 | KENTRELL BROTHERS | MIN | the heir apparent to Greenway, should battle with Lamur on backup duties to eventually take over as season winds down |
| 8 | NICK KWIATOSKI | CHI | will be behind Freeman/Trevathan & possibly Timu for the foreeable future but the talent is there and he can succeed as an ILB in ’17 |
| 9 | ANTONIO MORRISON | IND | has attack motive, plays aggressive which doesnt help when he misses tackles and all but is set up nicely in IND, lost Freeman and Jackson is aging. Morrison is one of my sleepers in rookie drafts |
| 10 | LEONARD FLOYD | CHI | big play type LB, may get handful of snaps unless an injury occurs to McPhee/Houston/Young and also Floyd is still developing as a pass rusher, another LB i’d target to stash but temp expectations |
| 11 | TYLER MATAKEVICH | PIT | think Steelers finally found their replacement to Timmons in the near future or even if Shazier doesn’t pan out as they got a helluva football player in Tyler, not the flashiest or quickest but will get to the ball |
| 12 | JATAVIS BROWN | SDC | think SDC is going to put 3 ILB’s on the field at the same time (Haha) as Brown isn’t a 3-4 OLB he’s more a 4-3 WLB and is such a sound tackler, definitely one to keep eye on as we continue through off-season |
| 13 | SCOOBY WRIGHT | CLE | wasn’t impressed with what i’ve seen out of Scooby but i’ll give him that he has good instincts and can contribute in run support, should compete with Schobert for backup ILB duties as I expect him to make the team, lack of depth for CLE at this position. |
| 14 | KEVIN DODD | TEN | moves to 3-4 OLB in TEN, will play behind & learn from Orakpo/Morgan so by the time ’17 comes around Dodd will scratch the surface on his capabilities, will be a solid edge rusher in the NFL as he’s already good against the run |
| 15 | JOE SCHOBERT | CLE | will make the move to WILL (ILB) in CLE 3-4, provides a pass rush and solid motor to get after it, will take time (like Jake Ryan) switching positions but has solid upside |
| 16 | BLAKE MARTINEZ | GBP | could be a dark horse throughout the off-season, wouldnt be surprised if he earned a starting spot (Clay’s spot) at ILB so Clay can move back to edge (where he belongs) |
| 17 | KAMALEI CORRERA | BAL | one of my draft favs and lands in a great situation, draft and stash as he’ll be the replacement for Suggs or Dumervil to pair with Za’Darius in the future, one of the better big play LB’s I’d want on my team |
| 18 | TRAVIS FEENEY | PIT | athletic and poses tremendous upside but will need time, if you can afford to stash – then take Feeney |
| 19 | KYLER FACKRELL | GBP | Perhaps Fackrell will be Peppers replacement in GBP, can support the run and pile up the tackles but another LB to wait until ’17 at least to get starting production |
| 20 | JORDAN JENKINS | NYJ | should be used in situational plays, provides a solid presence on the edge though and could carve out a more stable role especially if Mauldin doesn’t do much. |

You mentioned John timu. Where do you seem him long term? Should I keep him on my roster or cut him?

Timu is worthy of a roster spot if this is a deep league (big rosters) and you an afford to sit & stash him, with addition of Trevathan & Freeman, he may not get shot again until ’17 at the earliest but if you mix in Timu with these rookie LB’s I’d put him at 14 right behind Scooby – so you won’t lose sleep if you drop him, very replaceable

Just curious if you will be doing a list like this soon for DBs? I didn’t see one posted yet.
