Its that time again..time for some Daily Fantasy MMA action with UFC 188: Velasquez vs. Werdum. This event will take place in Mexico City and promises some fireworks. My predictions last week were pretty good and needless to say i had a profitable week. But thats in the past and we are looking forward to the next event. One new thing this week is that i will be trying out Kountermove, which is a site that provides Daily Fantasy MMA as well as boxing, kickboxing and wait for it…WWE! So it will be interesting to check out their pricing, scoring and game selection. I will also make mention of when i see a fighter’s price either way too high or too low compared to Draftkings. Let’s get things rolling!
As always lets look at the Vegas odds. Its very important you monitor these all the way up until lineups lock. A Prime example why is last weeks Lewis vs. Jordan Fight. Jordan went from an underdog to favorite just an hour or 2 before lineups locked. There are a couple of fights at UFC 188 that feature pretty heavy favorites, with the rest being around -200 or closer.
Next we take a look at fighter salaries. Its going to be VERY hard to build a lineup you feel comfortable with this week. Its going to be hard to fit in 4 or more favorites into a lineup this week. I would venture to say you may not feel very confident as you hit the lineup submit button.
Fantasy just got a whole lot better thanks to Monkey Knife Fight. With fast-paced games like Rapid Fire and Either/Or, it’s never been easier to play fantasy and win. New to MKF? Get Exclusive $100 Deposit Match + Free $5 Game
The top Vegas favorites this week include Main Eventer Cain Velasquez ($11,900), Kelvin Castelum (DK $11,700; KM $5,100), Henry Cejudo ($11,900), and Johnny Case ($11,300). All high priced fighters that Vegas is high on. My only caution here is on Cejudo. While he is the biggest favorite of the night, it seems likely that his fight will go to a decision, which isn’t what you want paying $11,900 for a fighter.
There are a few mid tier ($10,900-$9,800) fighter to take a look at depending on what you salary you need or have remaining. Augusto Montoya ($10,400), Drew Dober ($10,400) Charles Rosa ($10,800) and Gilbert Melendez (DK $10,300; KM $4,800) are all favorites heading into Saturday night.
As far as cheap/underdog fighter go you will pretty much have to roster at least one of them. In which case look to Patrick Williams ($9,200), Fabricio Werdum ($7,500)and Angela Hill (DK $8,000; KM $4,200). Hill may even be a must play on both Draftkings and Kountermove due to price and the fact that besides the Heavyweight division, it seems like in the women’s division fights, the underdog seems to be able to pull of more victories regardless of Vegas odds.
