For the past two weeks the St. Louis Rams defense is what IDP fantasy dreams are made of. James Laurinaitis is what dreams are made of. The whole Rams defense is what dreams are made of and that places them solidly in the Stud category.
Here are the Studs and Duds for week 14:

Jason Pierre-Paul, Defensive End, New York Giants: “Welcome back, back here where we need you.” Yeah, I threw out the “Welcome Back Kotter” lyrics for you, because it feels like that has been how long we have been without a viable JPP, yeah you know me! I can’t stop! And neither could JPP against the Tennessee Titans. Pierre-Paul finished the game with a more than serviceable stat line. He finished up with seven tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble. Stud!
Bene Benwikere, Cornerback, Carolina Panthers: “When you wish upon a star. Dreams will take you very far, yeah.” The Panthers entered the season as one of the most dominant defenses. Then the season started and well expectations were not met, shall we say. It only took 14 weeks, but here we are. “You’re a shining star, no matter who you are. Shining bright to see what you can truly be.” And it was against the New Orleans Saints in the Dome. Come on! Give the man some love. Benwikere had eight tackles and one interception. It wasn’t mind boggling, but it was good. And in this time of giving, good equals stud.
James Laurinaitis, Linebacker, St Louis Rams: Seriously, are there any song lyrics that can adequately describe the Rams defense in the last two games? I’m asking, if you know let me know, because I have no words but damn! It was a steady performance across the board. Yes, Laurinaitis compiled six tackles with 1.5 sacks. But did you know that Robert Quinn also balled out with five tackles and 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble! And then there is rookie Aaron Donald who had four tackles and one sack, and oh yeah safety Mark Barron contributed four tackles and one sack. It just keeps getting better! Song anyone?
Chris Conte, Safety, Chicago Bears: Let’s make this short and sweet, the Bears defense sucks! This ain’t your Lovie Smith defense. And Conte has been burned so many times that it is surprising when and if he makes a play. Against the Dallas Cowboys, Conte had two tackles and left the game with a back injury. Honestly, were you impressed when he was in?
Aldon Smith, Linebacker, San Francisco: Yes, I know Smith is coming back from a forced absence. Yes, I understand because of their inept offense the defense has to spend a lot of time on the field. And OK, there were others who were not as good. But to those who much has given much is expected. And personally I expect more than two tackles!
Troy Polamalu, Safety, Pittsburgh Steelers: If you knew how much this hurts me, you would be doubled over in pain. It is painful. Especially the ever present image of Polamalu being beaten in the red zone. The complete stat line for Polamalu equaled two tackles and the image burned in my mind of him getting scorched in the red zone. Is it time?
