I chose to review the Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA because it has been one of my favorite IPAs this year. This is the second beer I have reviewed from Deschutes Brewery, the first was their Twilight Ale. The Fresh Squeezed started out as a seasonal offering but Deschutes recently announced this beer will be available all year long. This is something I am certainly happy about. This IPA is part of their Bond Street Series which focuses on very hoppy brews. I think Deschutes best beers come out of the Bond Street Series.
Style: IPA ABV: 6.4% IBUs: 60
Appearance- This beer looks tasty with an orange coloring and a tinge of red. When I poured this beer there was just a slight head that dissipated rather quickly. Like most IPAs this one is very clear.
Aroma- A delicious waft of hops escapes from the glass. There is a perfect balance of hops and citrus in the mix. This IPA smells really fresh and begs you to drink it.
Palate- There is a pretty fair amount of carbonation in the brew that almost stings your tastes buds. Usually a heavily carbonated beer will linger in your mouth but this one washes down nicely.
Taste- Living up to its name, the Fresh Squeezed is full of citrus flavor. There is a nice blend of orange and lemon flavors. As the beer warms up I am tasting some grapefruit as well. Along with all the citrus there is just a hint of pine that adds some complexity.
I would have to say this is my favorite IPA from Deschutes Brewery. I am a sucker for a citrus IPA and this one does not disappoint. I have consumed this this beer from the tap and bottle and it is great either way. You can get this beer in six packs, I suggest buying two.
