Saints striker Rodriguez was forced from Saturday’s match against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium with what appeared to be a knee injury in the 23rd minute. He immediately went to ground, grabbing the knee after an awkward landing. NBCSN on-air medical update reports that due to the swelling in the knee, the staff elected to take Rodriguez back to Southampton for further treatment instead of to a local hospital. Obviously a blow to the Saints club as Rodriguez has netted five goals in his last four league appearances. Stay tuned for updates as the injury is further assessed.
