LATE ROUND LOTTERY TICKETS – RB’S

by Scott Lynge On June 26, 2013

Everybody who plays fantasy football would love to be that person who drafts a come out of nowhere late rounder that surprises everyone. Not only could it help propel you to a winning season, but it also gives the impression you’re a brainiac, even if everyone knows you’re not! However intriguing the possibility, cashing in on a late round flyer is as elusive as buying that winning lottery ticket you dream about. Fortunately, there are

A Tale of Two Rivers: 2013 Philip Rivers Preview

by Asher Curzon On June 25, 2013

courtesy of Lastangryfan.com Do you remember where you were during this game last year? I do. I was watching at a bar in Pismo Beach CA. I had DT on a few of my teams, and I was on the edge of my seat the entire second half. I witnessed Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos orchestrate one of the greatest comebacks I have personally seen live on television. I also saw Philip Rivers

2013 Fantasy Football Sleepers: Part Two

by Richard Janvrin On June 22, 2013

Welcome to another edition of Fantasy Football Sleepers. This week, my quarterback sleeper is more of a deep sleeper who is not a starting quarterback, but could potentially be taking over as the season progresses. This weeks tight end feature is a guy who I would have never thought I’d be writing about today. My wide-receiver sleeper will make Calvin Johnson happy and the running back sleeper is really short.   Well, without further ado,

“Me, Myself, and IDP”: 2013 Arizona Cardinals

by Luke Taylor On June 21, 2013

If you’ve been following along with this series, you may have noticed a trend; I’m ordering them in concordance with how I feel the division will play out in the upcoming year. But for those of you not scoring at home, that means I think Arizona will indeed finish dead last in the mighty NFC West. I’m sorry I’m not sorry Cardinal fans (*cough, cough* @ReganFP). While I have no doubt the modest upgrades will

Marques Colston’s nickname is The Quiet Storm, and why is that you might ask? Well have you ever heard him make comments to the media? Have you heard him do a press conference? Have you ever heard the guy speak?! I’m a huge Saints fan and I can honestly say I have only heard him speak once, and that was because I went looking to see him speak in a press conference that I found

… Well you should! Of all the elements of fantasy football that exist today, the most underplayed and under appreciated leagues are those that feature Individual Defensive Players (IDPs), so in this article I’ll try to give the uninitiated and uneasy all the reasons they need to broaden their fantasy horizons and deepen their football knowledge in the process.    Say Watt? JJ Watt is the undoubted IDP stud of 2013. photo from www.thehotroute.com

Head to Head: Two Chris Ivory 2013 Projections

by Richard Janvrin On June 14, 2013

From Richard Janvrin(@RichardJanvrin); This guy is on my “Fantasy Man-crush List”.  Traded to the Jets during the 2013 NFL Draft, the Chris Ivory fantasy value sky rocketed instantaneously.   Known for his violent style of running, Chris Ivory is built to be an every down back, in my opinion.  His only problem in recent years have been injuries, mainly knee, hamstring and foot problems.  Last season he missed one game (Week 15) due to a hamstring injury.  Buried

My 2013 Fantasy Top 10 Part Four: Tight Ends

by Regan Yant On June 12, 2013

Tight Ends are placed in three separate rankings, Gronk, Graham, and everyone else.  Who is #1? Which site has Gronk first? Which site has Graham first? If you are lucky enough to get one of those two guys you have no issues at the tight end spot.  But if you don’t land one all is not lost.  Those two are going in the late 1st to early 2nd rounds.*  If you are taking them that early

“Me, Myself, and IDP”: 2013 St. Louis Rams

by Luke Taylor On June 7, 2013

When I was in 7th grade I went to St. Louis. I rode to the top of the Gateway Arch. It was awesome. Mark Mcgwire  hit a ton of home runs, captivated a nation along with Sammy Sosa, and should be in the Hall of Fame. I couldn’t care less if he did steroids or not. “Greatest Show on Turf” These 3 things combined surmise my thought’s/feelings of the city refered to as “The Gateway to

2013 Fantasy Football Sleepers Part One

by Richard Janvrin On June 4, 2013

Everyone in the Fantasy Football community has their idea of a sleeper. This could mean they are loaded with potential, finally have a starting gig, use extrapolated statistics to predict “what could have been”, or simply a guy feeling. My idea of a sleeper is a bit of all of those. From here on until I run out, I’m going to write a weekly piece in regards to one sleeper to keep on your watch

Head to Head: Two AJ Jenkins 2013 Projections

by Richard Janvrin On June 4, 2013

From Richard Janvrin(@RichardJanvrin); According to reports, San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree has torn his Achilles tendon during OTA’s a few weeks ago. He has had surgery and is expected to miss 6 months.  This is a huge blow to not only the 49ers, but to Fantasy nerds, too. This affects Crabtree’s fantasy prospects as well as Colin Kaepernick, Anquan Boldin and Mr. AJ Jenkins. Who the heck is AJ Jenkins?

Wide receiver is the deepest group in fantasy football.  While the top five in standard scoring last year (Calvin Johnson, Brandon Marshall, Dez Bryant, A.J. Green and Demaryius Thomas) were a dominant group, there was less than 85 total point difference between the #6 scoring WR (Vincent Jackson) and the #40 scoring WR (Percy Harvin).  Per game that is a decent sized gap, but there is value to be had at other positions earlier in the

In fantasy football, a players’ ability will only take them so far. Take Michael Bush, who had a superb year for Oakland in 2011 but took the option of sitting behind Matt Forte in Chicago. Good player, but not a great choice in fantasy. Another indicator may be the players situation, is this guy a WR1 for his team? Is he an every-down linebacker? Is he the unquestionable #1 RB? Again, this will only get

Josh Gordon will be suspended for the entire season

The year long suspension for Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has been upheld per multiple media reports. The potential for a reduced suspension seemed somewhat realistic with a delay in decision on his appeal. The Browns offense will take a huge hit without him. Owners in dynasty leagues may want to make a move for Gordon who has number one wide receiver upside. The price will never be lower than after with this news.

Brian Hoyer named starter over Johnny Manziel

The Cleveland Browns have named Brain Hoyer their starting quarterback for week one. This may or may not be a shock to everyone. Johnny Manziel will likely start at some point this season. When that it happens depends on how well Hoyer and the Browns do to begin the season. Hoyer helped Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron be fantasy stars last season. Manziel taking over shouldn’t hurt the pass catchers in this offense.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Charles Sims will undergo Surgery

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Charles Sims will undergo surgery on the ankle he injured in practice. Sims is expected to be out for 12-14 weeks. This should be good news for Doug Martin owners, as Sims seemed the likely contender to carries in Tampa Bay. Bobby Rainey, Mike James and Jeff Demps are all vying for carries as well. Sims could be a worth add from the waiver wire depending on how the early part of the season goes.

The Black Cats made a pair of signings on deadline day for season-long loans. Coates joins from Liverpool and Ricardo Alvarez from Inter Milan. Coates struggled to get any pitch time in his three seasons at Liverpool, making only 24 appearances including just six starts.
