Fantasy Football Week 5 Waiver Wire

Looking to help your fantasy football team via the Week 5 waiver wire? These 6 names could be just the ticket to make an impact as soon as this week. There are 2 players at RB, WR and TE than can help you. Each player can be found a wide variety of leagues and have flashed thus far.

Who should you target?

Damien Williams – Rostered in 10% of Leagues

The Chicago Bears offense showed some life on Sunday with Justin Fields under center. Unfortunately for Chicago, RB David Montgomery got hurt in this game on a play that looked scarier than it will likely end up being.

With all that being said, Damien WIlliams is a player that RB needy teams should look to pick up. He gained 55 yards on 8 carries and caught 1 of 2 targets for 15 yards.

Remember WIlliams was a stud on Kansas City who was legitimately the best player on the field when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl.

Expect Williams to see the vast majority of the RB touches for Chicago while Montgomery recovers from his injury.

Alex Collins – Rostered in 1% of Leagues

Alex Collins was impressive on Sunday producing 44 yards and a TD on just 10 carries. He basically split carries with Chris Carson, who saw 13 carries.

This is more of a speculative add for those who can afford to be patient. Seattle is team that loves to lean on its RBs despite having one of the most dynamic QBs in the NFL. If Carson is hurt or they turn to Collins for some reason, this add could pay massive dividends.

Darnell Mooney – Rostered in 40% of Leagues

Darnell Mooney got back on track this week after a bumpy first game with Justin Fields. He caught 5 of his 7 targets for 125 yards. This was the 3rd time in 4 games where Mooney saw 6 or more targets.

He should remain a focal point in this offense no matter who is playing QB for this team. The production should continue this week as the Bears head to Las Vegas to face a Raider team that struggles against opposing passing offenses.

Mooney needs to be rostered in far more leagues. He has the ability to be a league winner down the stretch especially when he realizes how special Justin Fields can be.

Kadarius Toney – Rostered in 3% of Leagues

Despite a rough off-season for Kadarius Toney, a rash of injuries to the Giants receiving core has forced the hand of the coaching staff. In Week 4 Toney saw 9 targets, catching 6 for 78 yards.

Toney was a first round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft with comparisons to Tyreek Hill. Despite the slow start, if he can carve out a role in this Giants offense that suddenly looks viable, the potential for a strong fantasy season is very much in the cards for the rookie WR.

While I prefer to add Toney to a situation where I can don’t have to play him right away, he is someone that is absolutely playable if you are scrambling at WR this week.

Dawson Knox – Rostered in 20% of Leagues

Dawson Knox is emerging at TE for the Buffalo Bills. Per NBC Sports’ John Daigle, Knox has played 81% of the snaps running a route on 79.4% of Josh Allen dropbacks over the last 3 weeks. He has also seen a 15.7% target share including a team-high 6 red zone targets. Over that span he has been TE10, TE4, and TE3.

While I would not be punting on any of the elite options, he is absolutely worth a look for anyone scrambling at the TE position.

Dalton Schultz – Rostered in 21%

Dalton Schultz had an impressive performance this week against Carolina. He caught 6 of his 8 targets for 58 yards and a TD. He has seen 6 or more targets in 3 of 4 games for Dallas.

While Schultz is certainly a tempting option, be aware that Blake Jarwin is still involved with this offense albeit seeing a much smaller piece of the pie. The Cowboys have also had 1 or more WRs banged up in recent weeks.

Schultz can be a longer-term option while seeing this kind of volume, but be ready to cut bait if the volume starts to diminish.
