NFL 2019 Week 15 the Good, the Bad, and the Fugly

I can’t believe the NFL 2019 season is almost over. If you are in your fantasy championship…congratulations. And now, here are Week 15’s honorees of the Good, the Bad and the Fugly!

THE GOOD

There were lots of defensive good to go around: Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ cornerback, Sean Murphy-Bunting, who had his first pick-six of the season and eight tackles; Green Bay Packers’ defensive tackle, Kenny Clark, who finished the game with eight tackles and two sacks; and of course, Buffalo Bills’ cornerback, Tre’Davious White, who shined in prime time with four tackles and two interceptions.

Good on all of you.

THE BAD

This is a cumulative “award” as given by Aaron Schatz of Football Outsiders. So I will let him do the “honors”…drumroll please….

The Miami Dolphins’ defense is bad…like really bad. “Miami’s run defense is 29th in the league by DVOA. But what’s really bad is Miami’s pass defense. Miami is on pace for one of the two or three worst pass defense seasons in recent memory. Their current pass defense DVOA of 43.6% would be the second worst ever measured.”

That’s bad.

WHAT IS DVOA?

Oh, and DVOA, according to Football Outsiders,is a method of evaluating teams, units, or players. It takes every single play during the NFL season and compares each one to a league average baseline based on situation.

DVOA then measures a team’s efficiency by comparing success on every single play to a league average based on situation and opponent.

WHEW!

THE FUGLY

San Francisco 49ers’ secondary and I get it, the 49ers were injury depleted. And Julio Jones is a man amongst boys. But Jones going off for 13 receptions, 134 yards and two touchdowns, when the Atlanta Falcons were without the services of Calvin Ridley…well it ain’t good. Especially when one of those touchdowns was the game winner with no time on the clock.

If you are a Falcons fan, less fugly, but with all the 49ers had on the line (no pun intended) this last minute touchdown was just fugly.

Again good luck in your fantasy championships and make your opponent look fugly (unless it’s me)!
