Time to Shine or Ride the Pine: Week 15 Start or Sit
- Updated: December 12, 2019

On the Semi-finals we go. Last week we saw Mike Evans pull his hammy while catching a 60 yard touchdown, Devonta Freeman run wild on Carolina, Robert Woods & Mike Williams finally find the end-zone, and Eli Manning almost lead his Giants to a huge upset on Monday night. From the oldies to the new-age we go for week 15 start or sit. Good luck!
Players who will shine
Ronald Jones (TB@Det 1pm est)
Rojo hasn’t had the breakout season that myself and many others had predicted but has shown signs of being a featured back. Coming off a game where he was benched for missing a pass block, Jones split the workload down the middle with Peyton Barber and has seemingly played himself back into the good graces of head coach Bruce Arians.
In week 15 Jones and the Bucs face a Lions team that is simply not good. A matchup against a terrible defense, the absence of Mike Evans, and Jameis Winston nursing a hand injury may force Tampa Bay to ride the legs of Rojo. The rotation is scary, but if one of these guys can explode, its Ronald Jones.
Prediction: 14 car 72 yards 1 td, 4 rec 26 yards: 17.8 pts
Mike Gesicki (Mia@NYG 1pm est)
His week 14 stat line of 1 reception for 6 yards doesn’t exactly scream “start me!” but his target totals have been consistent. He has seen 5 or more targets in 6 straight games and with the possible absence of Devante Parker, Gesicki might see close to double digit looks.
Big Mike gets a Giants defense allowing the 7th most fantasy points to tight ends over the last 4 weeks and will take full advantage of his opportunity. Have faith in Mike to produce some Magic.
Prediction: 6 rec 73 yards 1td: 16.3 pts
Randall Cobb (LAR@Dal 4:25pm est)
The reception totals haven’t been there but prior Thanksgiving, Cobb had been seeing a 7-8 targets/game for the NFL’s top passing offense. The incoming Rams will be using Jalen Ramsey to defend Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup on the outside leaving Cobb to find the soft spots over the short middle.
Add this to LA having the ability to get after the QB under former Cowboys DC & Head Coach Wade Phillips, and Cobb will be plenty busy. This is a game both teams HAVE to win, and neither will be conservative. Expect an old-fashioned duel in Dallas with many Cowboys and Rams producing nice fantasy numbers. He doesn’t have the highest ceiling but will be a safe play in a high scoring affair.
Prediction: 5 rec 68 yards 1 td: 15.3 pts

Ride the Pine
All Jets! (NYJ@Bal 8:20pm est)
They could only score 22 against a horrible Dolphins defense and now they’re playing what could be the best team in the NFL. Its Thursday night and Le’Veon is more concerned about his bowling score than recouping from the flu. Stay away from these prop planes in your semi-finals.
Prediction: Danger, danger, danger!
JuJu Smith-Schuster (Buf@Pit SNF 8:20pm est)
JuJu is healthy and finally ready to return for the surging Steelers. Unfortunately, he is coming back to a matchup against a Bills team who has only allowed 3 opponents to throw for more then 250 yards.
On top of facing a top tier defense, JuJu re-enters a lineup being led by Duck Hodges and who has fully committed to the ground game. As the week 15’s lowest implied total(36.5), it is advised to avoid players in this game. His health is vital to a Steelers playoff push but not to our fantasy lineups. Keep him on the bench.
Prediction: 4 rec 42 yards: 6.2 pts
