Quarterback Streaming Options: Week 8 (2019)

Streaming at the quarterback position can be a daunting task on a weekly basis. Typically it is due to injury or poor performance. Whether you lost Patrick Mahomes, are worried about Carson Wentz or are still scrambling from early season woes, I am here to help you navigate these treacherous waters. Before we dive into the quarterback streaming options for Week 8, let’s evaluate the Week 7 picks to see how we did.

Stud – Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew

Jacoby Brissett was everything I hoped he could be and so much more against the Texans. He had 326 passing yards and 4 touchdowns finishing as the QB4 on the week. Gardner Minshew also rewards owners who used him in Week 7. While he was not quite as good as Brissett, he still finished at the QB9 thanks to his rushing production.

Dud – Daniel Jones

Daniel Jones definitely failed to deliver on the optimism I had. He was QB20 on the week in a seemingly dream match-up against the Cardinals. He spent too much time running for his life a week ago, something that will have to be cleaned up for Week 8. So which Week 8 quarterback streaming options do I like?

Sam Darnold – 24% Owned on Yahoo!

Sam Darnold looks to rebound after crapping his pants against New England on Monday Night Football. But like Kendall Roy, he is going to destroy the evidence and rebound in a big way this week. If you follow me on Twitter, you know I was touting Darnold not only as a player who can help you this week but going forward. His schedule is incredibly favorable and much better games are ahead.

This week Darnold is on the road to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Getting out of his house of horrors for a week should do him a lot of good. The Jets should get the Ghostbusters to come in and remove the ghosts Darnold was seeing a week ago. A Jaguars defense that no longer has Jalen Ramsey is much more prone to being had via the pass. Expect Darnold to perform well this week and be in the top 12-15 at the position.

Daniel Jones – 25% Owned on Yahoo!

Let’s stay in Gotham City for the second streaming option for Week 8. Daniel Jones appeared to be in a smash spot a week ago against but he could never get going. I expect to see a much better performance this week.

The Giants are on the road this week to face a Lions defense that was torched by Kirk Cousins a week ago. To make matters worse, the Lions traded Quadre Diggs which should only hamper an a secondary with issues. For the Giants offense another week of having Evan Engram and Saquon Barkley back should make a difference for Jones.

Jacoby Brissett – 61% Owned on Yahoo!

Typically I like to cut off my potential streaming options at 60% and usually lower so I can offer players that many owners can have a shot at adding. That said Jacoby Brissett is someone that should be mentioned. Not only was he a stud last week but he has been awesome for the majority of the season. He is currently QB9 in points per game throwing for multiple touchdowns in every game but 1. In fact he has 3 plus passing TDs in half of his games this season.

Now a contest against the Denver Broncos may worry some as they have been really strong against opposing passers. However, the Colts are almost touchdown favorites at home a place where Brissett has had multiple passing TDs in every game. If you’re looking for stability at the quarterback position and avoid the weekly streamer carousel Brissett is a great option. There is no reason to think he can’t be a top 12 option the rest of the way.

Good luck in Week 8!
