Quarterback Streaming Options: Week 3, 2019

We are not even a month into the season and replacing a quarterback is something many are already dealing with. Andrew Luck, Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger, and Nick Foles are all no longer starting and fantasy owners are scrambling.

Week 3 quarterback streaming potions takes a look at some names that can help you win in the short term. Jimmy Garoppolo and Josh Allen are the preferred streamers this week if they are available in your leagues. Both are owned in 60% or more of Yahoo! Fantasy Football leagues so they just miss the cut to appear in this article.

As a matter of fact, both make season long options if you want to avoid streaming. Garoppolo does have a Week 4 bye so you will have to find an option next week if you plan to roll with Jimmy GQ as your full-time starter.

Before we head into Week 3, let’s take a look back at Week 2.

Stud – Josh Allen

Josh Allen was a top ten option a week ago and is an every week starter at this point. The rushing floor of Allen helps vault him even being turnover prone.

Dud – Matthew Stafford and Gardner Minshew

I hate to classify Stafford and Mishew as duds as both were top 20 options ahead of names like Aaron Rodgers, Deshaun Watson, and Baker Mayfield. they didn’t end up in the top 12-15 which is the goal each week. Check out my complete rankings before Week 3.

Mitchell Trubisky – 47% Owned

Mitchell Trubisky has not made the jump thus far that many thought he could make. He has 348 yards passing with no touchdowns and one interception. That said, I am actually buying Trubiksy this week.

His first two contests were an opener against a Packers defense that is much improved and a Denver defense that is lead by Vic Fangio who was the Bears coach a season ago.

This week the Bears are on the road against a Washington Redskins defense that has been thrown all over for two weeks. Washington is allowing the 4th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. They have allowed 3 passing touchdowns and nearly 300 yards each of the first two weeks.

I expect Trubisky to be a top 15 option this week with the ability to be in the top 10 or higher.

Matthew Stafford – 47% Owned

I am going to keep recommending Matthew Stafford in this column until his ownership gets over 50% or he burns me. Thus far, I have been rewarded by suggesting him. He is currently QB 7 on NFL.com despite being drafted as QB 24. This week the Lions face an Eagles defense that is most vulnerable against opposing passing attacks. This is a problem that has carried over from 2018 and likely won’t go away any time soon. Case Keenum and Matt Ryan both eclipsed 300 passing yards and threw 3 touchdowns. I expect Matthew Stafford to be approach or exceed these numbers in Week 3.

Jacoby Brissett – 17% Owned

Need to dig deeper on a picked over waiver wire? Jacoby Brissett makes a ton of sense. This week Indianapolis is home to face an Atlanta Falcons defense that is allowing the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks.

Thus far Brissett has looked more than serviceable and is coming of a three touchdown performance against the Tennessee Titans. He currently has five touchdowns and only one interception through those two starts. There is also safety in Brissett as he posses the ability to utilize his legs and provide rushing production.

With Atlanta likely producing points, the Colts will have to keep pace and Brissett will have to move the offense to do so. I think he will be more than serviceable and has a real shot at being a top 10 option at the position. Fire him up if you’re digging deep.

Good luck in Week 3!
