Confessions of a Fantasy Football Addict

Confessions of a Fantasy Football Addict

Me: My name is Dennis and I am a Fantasy Football Addict

Them: Hi Dennis!

Shame on all of you I didn’t see you at last Tuesday’s meeting! We used to have our meetings on Mondays like all support groups but we couldn’t get the meeting done by game time so it got moved to Tuesdays instead.

Today I will share with you the confessions of a Fantasy Football addict and if you recognize these traits in yourself you might want to show up to our meeting next Tuesday.

Common Symptoms

If your first app on your phone is ROTOWORLD and your first bookmark for websites on your computer is FakePigSkin.com you might be a Fantasy Football addict.

If you tried to con your significant other that you were going to change your ways by giving up Fantasy Football for Lent, you might be a Fantasy Football addict.

If your wardrobe includes more than one Scott Fishbowl Tournament t-shirts, you might be a Fantasy Football addict.

If your usual reply to being asked to join yet another league among the Twitter football community and you answer yes without thinking about it, you might be a Fantasy Football addict.

If you joined your significant other for a binge watch of “Dynasty” because you thought it was going to help your team find a new sleeper, you might be a Fantasy Football addict.

If you wear a jersey of your Fantasy Team stud instead of the jersey of your favorite team on Sunday for good luck, you might be a Fantasy Football addict.

If you know the channel on your cable system for NFL Red Zone and still don’t know what channel your local news is on without searching, you might be a Fantasy Football addict.

Always Quote a Harvard Study

If you are ever asked to give up your Fantasy Football addiction you can always mention this study. Did you know that Harvard University Medical School published a detailed study showing that addiction to Fantasy Football adds 7 years to the life of the average male and 12 years to the life of the average female player? Yes I totally made up this study but your significant other doesn’t need to know that and since all Harvard studies are behind a pay wall for access you are clear to quote this study any time!

Managing Your Addiction Better

It really is easy to maintain your Fantasy Football addiction and lead a normal life. Look at me as your role model. Since I have been attending my Tuesday meetings I have actually been much better. Not at decreasing my Fantasy Football addiction are you kidding me, I have found 2-3 deep sleepers that nobody else is talking about and my Fantasy Football championship percentage has risen.

Besides I don’t really think you can count 27 Dynasty teams, 4 Devy Teams, 135 Best Ball Leagues, and 276 Redraft leagues as an “Addiction” can you? If you know of any competitive leagues for the 2019 season let me know right away!
