NCAA Tournament: Saturday

The NCAA Tournament is rolling along. The field has been cut in half and come the end of Sunday we will be getting ready for the Sweet 16. Brian and I have not been exactly killing it but were back to see if we can find some winners.

So, who do we like?

Kyle’s Picks:

Wofford +5 vs Kentucky

Wofford was impressive in their first round win over Seton Hall. They are led by Fletcher Magee, which is name that sounds so fake people would be skeptical if they it were the main character in a made for TV movie.

The Wildcats will be without PJ Washington for another game. I expect Kentucky to be able to do enough get a win but not enough to cover the 5 points.

Maryland ML vs LSU

The Tigers will be in their second game without their head coach. While they performed well in their opener, i expect more struggles in this contest.

81% of the bets are backing the Tigers in this contest so I am taking the Terps to advance.

Florida State -4.5 vs Murray State

Ja Morant is incredible and had the first triple-double in NCAA Tournament history. Even with his special skills, I expect the Seminoles length to cause a ton of issues for the sure fire top 3 NBA draft pick.

The Racers will not have the fire power to keep this game close enough to cover the 4.5 points. Florida State wins and covers in this contest.

Brian’s Picks:

Florida vs Michigan 1H – Under 58 ½

This is a matchup of two elite defenses. Florida hounded the Nevada Wolfpack all game holding them to a 34.5 fg% and forcing them into 14 turnovers. Michigan bested Florida’s D, albeit against an inferior opponent to 33.3% from the field.

Florida likes to shoot three’s which Michigan defends at one of the best clips in college. The Maize and Blue also like to run through their sets and play in the half court. Early on both teams will likely be feeling each other out and combine that with both playing awesome d, I see a slow and low scoring first half.

Maryland vs LSU – Over 146

Both the Terps and Tigers average over 70/game with LSU exceeding 80. Neither plays much defense both allowing 74+/game.

They both have mismatches on the offensive end with their big guys. Naz Reid for the Tigers can take Fernando on the perimeter while Bruno can bang with anyone. This one is slated to be one of the most exciting high scoring affairs on Saturday with an up and down style.

Minnesota vs Michigan State -10

These two Big Ten foes only met once during the regular season and MSU more than handled the Golden Gophers 79-55. As with most conference games, familiarity comes into play and this will be no different.

The ability of the Spartans to rotate 3 bigs and defend the perimeter are a formula which should limit the surging Minnesota offense. I expect Sparty to take to fight to Minnesota and separate itself late.
