NFL 6 Pack: Week 6 NFL Picks Against the Spread

Titans Marcus Mariota

Its that time again where Aaron and I make our NFL picks against the spread. I’m looking to stay hot and keep cashing winners. Aaron on the other hand is looking to rebound after taking it on the chin in Week 5.

Kyle’s Reaction: It was another strong week for me going 2-1. If you are checking out The Angle of Pursuit on Thursday or Friday each week you would have had another winner making it a 3-1 week in the NFL. You can find the podcast on iTunes, Spotify or Youtube.

Want more winners? Check out my College Football Picks Against the Spread each and every Friday on Fake Pigskin. It was a 5-1 week over there after a 4-2 week. Your boy is 9-3 in his last 12 CFB picks.

This almost assuredly means it will coming crashing down hard this week. That said, I feel great about my picks for this week. Who should you back in Week 6? Let’s take a look.

Aaron’s Reaction: Well, I got duped last week! I fell victim to picking against two very bad teams in the Jets and the Bills. I nailed the Bengals against the Dolphins, but it was still a losing week. No excuses though, let’s get back to winning some $:

Week 5 results:

Aaron: 1-2-0
Kyle: 2-1-0

On the season:

Aaron : 8-6-1
Kyle : 8-5-2

Kyle’s Picks:

Tennessee Titans +3 vs Baltimore Ravens

Typically I run from the opportunity to bet for or against my teams but this is a situation I could not pass on. The Titans have been a very Jekyll and Hyde team over the past couple seasons. They will play up to their opponents especially at home and then fall flat on their faces against bad teams usually on the road.

The Titans come into this game after laying an absolute egg in Buffalo. As bad as they played, they were a dropped TD away from walking out with a win. The Ravens come into this game after losing in Cleveland and are on the road for a second straight week.

This line ballooned from 1 to 3 in favor of the Ravens. These are two teams that are very even in my mind and this game should be a pick ‘em at most. I’ll take the extra points with the home team.

Pick: Titans +3

Tampa Buccaneers +3 at Atlanta Falcons

The sky is falling in Atlanta. The defense is littered with injuries especially in the secondary. The offensive line has injury issues, Devonta Freeman returned but now is dealing a foot injury. While the team isn’t worried about a long term issue, it could force him to miss another game.

The Buccaneers head into this contest coming off a bye and have made the switch to Jameis Winston. I expect the offense to regain their prior form and for the defense to rebound after an abysmal performance before the bye in Chicago.

This line has already moved for 3.5 to 3 in favor of Tampa Bay. I highly recommend jumping on this number now before the line moves inside the key number of 3.

Pick: Tampa Bay +3

Oakland Raiders vs Seattle Seahawks Over 48

Pound the over in this contest! It features two offenses that have the ability to stretch the field and put up points. It also features two defense that have been gashed especially by opposing passing attacks.

While this game being in London may cause some to worry about the potential of these teams, it is a night game in London which means it will be a 1PM EST kick stateside. It also has been the right side historically. 11 of the last 16 games in London have hit the over.

Take the over in this spot and enjoy the fireworks!

Pick: Raiders/Seahawks Over 48

Seahawks Russell Wilson

Seattle Seahawks -2.5 vs. Oakland Raiders

Yes, you are always supposed to stay away from the London games. Just prefacing that so I have an excuse just in case I’m wrong here. I don’t think I will be. The Seahawks are trending in the right direction and are coming off a tough loss.

This team is hungry and improving. Their 3 losses were to the Broncos, Bears, and Rams – three serviceable opponents. Their run game is clicking, and Doug Baldwin is working his way back into the passing game. I feel like Russel Wilson is much more prepared for a cross-Atlantic trip than Carr and the Raiders. The Seahawks have been in the spotlight before, while this Raiders team hasn’t. I think Seattle wins by a TD or more and cruises to victory.

Pick: Seahawks -2.5

Atlanta Falcons -3 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Are the Falcons really 1-4 right now? They are… but they have arguably played the toughest schedule in football so far. They opened up the season against the Eagles, Panthers, Saints, Bengals, and Steelers. I love taking good teams coming off blowout losses.

Atlanta is going to be gunning for a win here and I expect them to get it. This doesn’t come without risk, but I don’t think Tampa is that good of a team. Their early wins were honestly due to Fitzmagic and I don’t think Jameis is going to bring that 400-yard comeback heat. They have NO running game to speak of and will not be able to control the game flow in Atlanta. I may take the alternate line here myself and hit ATL -7.5 for some solid profit.

Pick: Falcons – 3

Pittsburgh Steelers +2.5 @ Cincinnati Bengals

The last time the Bengals beat the Steelers was in 2015 when Le’Veon Bell tore his MCL. The Steelers have beaten them 6 times in a row and their offense is starting to click. This is a must-win game for the Steelers and a ‘nice-to-have’ for the Bengals.

I’d love to sit here and say “this is the year the Bengals are for real” but we’ve all seen this story too many times before. Sure, their offense is the best it’s been in years, but the Bengals flop in big games. The last time these two played was Monday Night Football last year, when the Bengals blew a 17-0 lead and lost 23-20. In fact, the last two times these two played in Cincinnati the Bengals blew 2-score leads (17-3 in 2016)!

Pick: Steelers +2.5

Good luck in NFL Week 6!
