2017 IDP DYNASTY DB RANKINGS
-
Updated: June 11, 2017

I lay out the top 100 for DB’s – there’s a bunch of CB’s that should find their way onto this list but overall in DB leagues you’re targeting a lot of the box safeties. There’s a lot of upside here and you’ll probably get a better look at it once I put them in tiers. Don’t fade a lot of the rookies this year, although a handful won’t get their full opportunity until 2018, it’s loaded and the future is bright. A bunch of savvy vets with decent floors are either cheap trade targets or you could get em slightly later than usual in start up drafts but for those in CB required leagues, I will be putting together a ranking list as well.
As always if you got any questions feel free to email me at idpwithbee@gmail.com

Definitely some shocking rankings here after loving your LB & DL ranks.. My question here is, where’s Artie Burns??

I run an all defensive players league & we have 2 CB spots, so perhaps as u mentioned above, there is a different ranking system u have for CB required leagues & may share it?.. I do enjoy your articles though, keep up the good work

I think you missed JJ Wilcox TBB, Bee. He’s being paid starter money and is listed by most as the starting SS. Oh, now I see that you have J. Evans at 22. Hmm, can’t believe they’re gonna pay Wilcox over 4M/year to warm the bench however you’re the pro and know better than me.

in redraft Wilcox has some consideration but i wouldnt pay attention to depth charts in June – anything can happen during camp and pre-season (see: Kwon Alexander)
Evans is a far better talent than Wilcox, also Wilcox didn’t even crack the top 32 the past two seasons at DB – he is prob better than Conte but he won’t hold off Evans that long (if that)
i don’t value Wilcox much in dynasty (this is dynasty rankings) but you may see him pop up in my redraft ranks

I would not put Harrison Smith over Reshad Jones. Jones has been a monster the last few years while Smith has not even been a top 15 DB the last 2 years. Jones was #1 in PPG in 2015 and #2 in 2016. Smith was #38 in 2015 PPG and #17 in 2016. 2 pts per tackle, 1 per assist, 4 per INT scoring.

#2 in 2016? what league are you in? he missed most of the season with a torn labrum last year, Cyprien was your #2 safety last season more than likely
but really shouldn’t pay much attention to one being ranked one spot higher than the other, pretty much both are tier 1 DB’s
both are playmakers, Reshad is legit BUT coming back from a torn labrum yeah that definitely has some concerns … when i put these in tiers you’ll prob have a better understanding and won’t freak out because Smith is one rank higher than Jones
