NFL Picks Against the Spread: Week 6, 2016

Kirk Cousins and Jordan Reed

Week 6 of the NFL season is upon us and thus far the NFL Picks Against the Spread have gone poorly. A 1-3-1 Week 5 currently has us at 9-15-1 but there is plenty of time to turn things around and get back on track. Last season the NFL was great to us hitting 63% of our picks. Though I wouldn’t blame you if you faded these picks, Week 6 feels like the week that starts the turnaround. Let’s go 5-0 this week and make some cash money!

Washington Redskins +2.5 at Philadelphia Eagles

I went against the Philadelphia Eagles a week ago against the Lions (winner!) and am going to do so again this week. Philadelphia is on the road again this week to take on a Redskin team that has won 3 straight. While Washington hasn’t found a consistent rush attack yet they have found ways to put up points and not only win but cover. Word out of Washington is rookie Robert Kelley may get more touches this week. Kelley is player who flashed during the preseason and should help to provide balance to the offense. Everyone is pounding the Eagles and have caused the line to move to favor the Eagles. I think Vegas had the original line correct with Washington as a 1.5 point favorite. Take the home dog win a close game at home.

Kansas City Chiefs -1 at Oakland Raiders

I love this spot for the Kansas City Chiefs this week at Oakland. They come into this game off of a bye week and are getting healthy on both sides of the ball. Jamaal Charles is back and ready to roll. The Raiders on the other hand out squeaked out three nail biters against the Titans, Ravens and Chargers who are a combines 6-9 thus far. Their offense has been impressive but the defense has abysmal. I think the Chiefs rebound in a big way off of the ugly loss in Pittsburgh and get a divisional win on the road.

Pick: Chiefs -1

New York Giants -3 vs Baltimore Ravens

Despite their 3-0 start the Baltimore Ravens are not among the NFL’s elite and have dropped their last two games. Their having issues on the offensive side of the ball and fired their offensive coordinator Marc Trestman this week and have given the reigns to Marty Mornhinweg. They have injuries on both sides of the ball and likely will be without Steve Smith and Devin Hester among others. Mike Wallace is banged up but should play this week. The Giants have looked dreadful on offense with Eli Manning clearly not trusting his line. However Rashad Jennings is expected to be back which should help with protection and make the defense respect the run. Odell Beckham Jr. also found the end zone a week ago and should ease some of the pressure there. I trust the Giants defense the most of any individual unit in this game and should do enough to slow the Ravens banged up offense down. The Giants should win this game at home and cover the 3 points.

Pick: Giants -3

Carolina Panthers -2.5 at New Orleans Saints

The overreaction to the Carolina Panthers has seemingly gone too far. While their defense has not lived up to its end of the bargain and the offense hasn’t been producing like we saw a season ago they are still a really good team. They will get both Cam Newton and Jonathan Stewart back this week and will face a Saints defense that is allowing the 4th most passing yards and 7th most rushing yards per game. The Saints are coming in off of a bye but could be without both Willie Snead and Mark Ingram for this game. I think the Panthers send a message with this game and cover the spread with ease.

Pick: Panthers -2.5

Seattle Seahawks -6 vs Atlanta Falcons

Ok, I know I keep doing this but i’m picking against the Falcons this week. The Seattle Seahawks come into this game off of a bye and are healthy. Russell Wilson is recovered from his ankle injury and is reportedly looking great in practice. The Falcons have been playing great lead by their dynamic rush attack. Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman will have issues getting going against a top 10 rush defense. The Seahawks roll at home and cover the 6 and then some.

Pick: Seahawks -6
