Carolina Panthers’ Kelvin Benjamin went down early this morning after suffering an apparent left knee injury. Panthers coach Ron Rivera said it was a “strain.” Benjamin was carted off the practice field and will have an MRI later today (Wednesday). While nothing is official yet, there is a legitimate possibility of it being an ACL injury that would take significant time to heal. Footballguys.com Jene Bramel, who also happens to be a physican in his day time job, chimed in on the injury to Benjamin.
Revising last tweet. On Benjamin, mechanism worrisome for ACL tear. But doesn’t mean it will turn out to be ACL. Sorry for confusion there.

If I saw that happen in front of me, integrity of ACL and MCL would be my first concern when I got to player on field. — Jene Bramel (@JeneBramel) August 19, 2015
It’s a torn ACL for #Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin

With the report of Benjamin indeed having a torn ACL, Devin Funchess becomes very interesting. He has the ability to do a lot of what made Benjamin so intriguing to fantasy owners. Funchess would likely become the focal point of the passing game which is what made Benjamin so useful in his rookie season. Currently going around the 13th round per Fantasy Football Calculator, Funchess is worth a shot in double digit rounds and probably even earlier. Id be fine grabbing taking a shot in starting in round 8. For those who have already drafted, he may still be available and is definitely worth a stash.
