This week we kick off a loaded month of April MMA Daily Fantasy action on Draftkings. I hope to have a better month of April than I did in March. My predictions weren’t bad for the last UFC event, but i basically broke even so lets hope to kick off April right. One thing to keep in mind is this is a matinee show so to speak. It will be a 10am ET start for UFC Fight Night Mendes vs. Lamas from Virginia. With this being in the U.S. I’m not sure why this is an early start time, but may have something to do with the NCAA Final Four taking place in the evening. Regardless you will want to get your lineups submitted early, and i would recommend doing it the night before the fights so you are sure to not forget.
The lines on these fights are a lot closer than they have been in the ast. there are only a handful of big favorites according to way Vegas sees it. That means there should be some pretty close fights. However I’m a big fan of the pricing structure this week. It will allow you to get 3-4 of the Vegas favorites in your lineups depending on what top options you decide to roll out.
The biggest favorites of the card include Chad Mendes ($11,300), Michael Chiesa ($11,000) and Julianna Pena ($10,500). I think any of these fighters make for good choices if you can make the rest of your lineup look decent. With so many close betting lines, this may be the fight card to try that strategy.

I’m a HUGE fan of the fighters in the 10K range. Guys like Dustin Poirier ($10,100), Gray Maynard ($10,000) and Shamil Abdurahimov ($10,600) and Clay Guida ($10,700). These are the guys you could roll out if you want to try and get 4 Vegas favorites into your lineup. Trust me, it is possible.
Just below that is yet another great crop of possible choices of fighters. This is also where we have to select an underdog or two. Fighters in this range that I like the chances of this week include Al Iaquinta ($9,500), Liz Carmouche ($9,600), Alexander Yakovlev ($9,400) and Timothy Johnson ($8,700). Don’t forget also that if you have to take a huge underdog or a fighter that i have not mentioned just remember any fighter can win or lose on any given night in MMA. Also keep in mind that typically you only need 3 wins from your fighters to win in cash games, but GPPs will require AT LEAST 4 wins to possibly finish in the money.
