Denver (hosting Oakland on Monday Night) – The Raiders possess the fifth stingiest pass defense, however, Peyton F’ing Manning. Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning. Knowshon Moreno maintains his RB1 status, but with the Raiders only allowing 80 yards per game thus far, dont expect a monster day. Thomas, Thomas and Welker (a new law firm?) are all must starts because Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning. Denver’s DSTis a nice play here as their strength is Oakland’s weakness (see below).
Kansas City (playing at Philadelphia on Thursday Night) – The Eagles are 31st vs the pass through two weeks, so Andy Reid will keep pulling the strings with Alex Smith and Dwayne Bowe in the West-Coast Offense. You could make a case for starting Donnie Avery in deeper leagues. The Iggles run defense is middle of the road, but Jamal Charles has been the fifth-best RB in the league thus far, so he should have himself a nice day. Kansas City’s DST has been great and should be a must-start, even against the Eagles offense, which outside of the first two quarters of the season, hasn’t been too explosive.
Oakland (playing at Denver on Monday Night) – Oakland’s strength this young season has been its run game. Unfortunately, Denver has only allowed 81 yards TOTAL in two weeks. Terrell Pryor can’t be trusted to beat any team through the air right now and the Broncos should take away his top two weapons, his legs and those of Darren McFadden. Bottom line: Outside of Janikowski, send the Raiders to the Black Hole known as your bench.
San Diego (playing at Tennessee) – Phil Rivers has been great this season (QB4 overall), but the Titans’ possess a Top-10 pass defense (221.5 yards/game), so temper your expectations for Sunday. Eddie Royal has been outstanding. but whether he can keep up his torrent scoring pace will continue to be a question. Ryan Mathews (RB2) and Antonio Gates (TE1 in 14-16 team leagues) should be solid and Vincent Brown should get plenty of opportunity in Malcolm Floyd‘s absence (neck). Nick Novak is a must play. Chargers DST has been rotten and should be on waivers.
