Weekly Values Before Week 8. How many times have you seen players compared by year-end stats and thought, “But Fantasy Football is the weekly game?” That’s why I developed the Best Ten and Consistency Ratings Series! It’s not HOW MANY points a player scores in Fantasy Football; it’s how he scores them!
Additionally, we also need two weekly statistical tools because certain players who are the Best 10 All-Stars consistently produce big weeks that can win you a week are statistical liabilities 40% of the time when they fail to score a minimum number of points to make us happy. Tyler Lockett is a classic example! His big games wow us, but when defenders grab him leading to interference calls, we miss out on an additional 10-15 points per week!
Interestingly, the format of your league determines which is more important. The more Flex starting spots, the more I value Consistency. In Best Ball formats, give me all the Tyler Lockett types I can find. These statistical tools use a more significant data set than just this season but are weighted in such a way to bring out the current trends. Let’s take a look at the weekly values of players after seven weeks of play.

QB Values
It’s very crowded at the top of the QB rankings, with Josh Allen in first place with 42.3 points. The ageless one Tom Brady moved into 2nd place, and a poor effort by Patrick Mahomes dropped him to 3rd but less than a point from the top spot. That woeful performance was the only second game Mahomes has had under 15 points (6 Pt TDs) since taking over the starting job!
Additionally, another strong game by Matthew Stafford moved him up to 10th place, with Jalen Hurts moving into the top 15. Hurts has scored more points in the 4th quarter than the first two quarters combined. Finally, Joe Burrow moved up to 20th with another strong effort showing he was a tremendous 2nd QB value in Superflex leagues.

RB Values
Injuries are hurting many teams that drafted RBs early and often in their drafts. Last week we missed the 2nd, 7th, 10th, and 13th RBs to injuries, while the 5th, 6th and 8th best sat out on Bye weeks. Another terrific 17 point game (PPR Scoring) by Leonard Fournette moved him into the top 15 at the position, making him one of the best values in Fantasy Football this season. A solid 14 point performance by Cordarrelle Patterson moved him up to 18th place in this week’s rankings, making him the steal of late-round drafts or waiver wire pick-ups. His increased snaps indicate his weekly value should continue to rise.

WR Values
Weekly values use a statistical method that is slow to change to eliminate a short run of great games, moving a player up the rankings too fast. It’s because of this that rookies are often undervalued early in their first season. That makes Ja’ Marr Chase’s rise to 16th place this week even more impressive. Another 10% bump in his value will catapult him to the Top 6. Chase’s first seven games have all been over 10 points (PPR Format), and four of his games have been over 20 points. He has more 20 point games in seven starts than many WR2 level players have had in the last two seasons’ worth of games!
Also, Davante Adams remained on top this week, but Cooper Kupp is now the first WR within less than a point of Adams in almost two years of compiling the Best ten stat. The Tampa Bay Bucs have assembled quite the elite receivers with Evans at 4th, Godwin at 7th, and AB at 13th place.

TE Values
Another impressive rookie continues to climb up the TE rankings. Kyle Pitts’ second game over 20 points moved him up to 7th best in the rankings this week. Another 10% rise would move him close to the second tier of TE weekly values behind the two super-elite of Darren Waller and Travis Kelce. How good has Travis Kelce been over the last few seasons? In his previous 38 games (30 or more snaps), he has scored over 20 points (PPR Format) 44% of the time. There are starting tight ends in Fantasy Football who haven’t been able to score 10 points that often! One injury replacement, Ricky Seals-Jones, is 13th in the weekly ratings but over 8 points behind the top 2.

Weekly Values Before Week 8. Putting Weekly Ratings and Consistent to Work
If a player has a strong Best ten score and a Consistency Rating over 70%, they should be in your lineup each week. That type of player has shown they will perform well even in tough defensive matchups. Once you set and forget those players, the Weekly Ratings can help you decide between other players for your Flex position. Since the ratings are compiled using the same standards, it’s a great way to compare players from different positions for your Flex Starters.

For example, the bottom 10 QBs have weekly ratings under 30 points, showing that when you are deep in talent, it might make sense to play an RB or WR in that Superflex spot, depending on matchups. Good luck in your Fantasy Football matchups this week, and don’t forget to check out Professor John Bush for detailed matchup data right here on Fake Pig Skin.
