Michael Pittman Jr.: My Favorite Week 1 DFS Play

Michael Pittman Jr. – $4,100

The NFL is back and ready to begin its 2021 season. Every new season offers anyone the chance at success. For receivers, any Sunday is the chance to make quarterbacks and fantasy owners happy. Whether catching a touchdown or a deep pass, a big performance from a top receiver is critical to a win or heavy payout.

This weekend, Indianapolis Colts receiver Michael Pittman Jr. will be presented a golden chance to make fantasy and daily fantasy owners happy they used him against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Colts are already missing T.Y. Hilton, who is on injured reserve after undergoing a neck procedure. Pittman was already a good play before Hilton’s injury. Now, he becomes my favorite DFS play this weekend.

As a rookie, Pittman showed his potential despite only catches 40 passes for 505 yards and one touchdown. In Week 10 showdown with the Tennessee Titans, Pittman racked up his first 100-yard game.

Then In his playoff debut, the former USC Trojan caught five passes for 90 yards. Despite the Colts losing, Pittman showed his ability to play in January.

On Sunday, Pittman will have the chance to show his growth and talent against an inviting pass defense. While Seattle’s defense was known as the Legion of Boom, the Seahawks struggled to contain quarterbacks early in the season.

In Week 2, Cam Newton racked up 397 yards. Two weeks later, Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 315 yards in Miami. Jared Goff even threw for over yards against the Seahawks. While Seattle’s defense improved towards the end of the season, the Seahawks pass defense finished 31st – allowing 285 yards per game.

While most people will look at fellow second-year play Jonathan Taylor as Indy’s offensive key, Pittman should have the chance to become Carson Wentz’s favorite option.

With Russell Wilson, Tyler Lockett, and DK Metcalf forming a lethal trio in Seattle, the Colts may need more Wentz and Pittman to keep score.

For DFS owners, Pittman’s $4,100 price tag on DraftKings makes him a very appealing play with a total nearing 50 points.

With everything pointing to a breakout, Pittman is my favorite fantasy, and DFS play on the opening weekend of the 2021 NFL season. I will admit Pittman could be a little chalky for GPP tournaments, but he will be a fixture in my cash games.
