NFL 2020: Week 5 IDP Starts

Carolina Panthers safety Jeremy Chinn from cilfm.com

Week 5 of the NFL begins the scheduled bye weeks. If you have the Detroit Lions or the Green Bay Packers act accordingly. It also appears there may be a postponement of the Buffalo Bills @ Tennessee Titans game, make sure you adjust for that.

Here are some IDP starts to consider:

LINEBACKERS

ANTHONY WALKER – INDIANAPOLIS COLTS @ CLEVELAND BROWNS

Rostered in 10% of Leagues

Walker stepped up when Darius Leonard went down. He now has 11 total tackles. Now he gets to go against the Browns who have rushing attempts on 34.8% of their plays (second in the league).

Check the status of Leonard, while Walker is in play his opportunities will diminish with a healthy Leonard.

JOSEY JEWELL – DENVER BRONCOS @ NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

Rostred in 4% of Leauges

Jewell has 30 total tackles for the four games. In week for he was on the field for all but one defensive snaps. Against the Jets he recorded 10 tackles and two sacks (yeah I know it was the Jets) but he opportunities do not diminish this week.

He will go against a quarterback yet to be named in New England who could be changed mid-game. It is a good bet the Patriots rely a lot on the run game which only mean another chance for Jewell to shine.

DEFENSIVE LINE

LEONARD WILLIAMS – NEW YORK GIANTS @ DALLAS COWBOYS

Rostered in 4% of Leagues

While the Giants are a hot mess, there are a few bright spots and Williams is one. In four games he has had at least five tackles and he also has added two sacks to his stats.

Now he goes against another team that is in turmoil and has allowed their quarterback to be sacked nine times.

SHELBY HARRIS – DENVER BRONCOS @ NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

Rosterd in 11% of Leagues

The Broncos will go to New England not knowing who will be under center. That in itself is magical. With the injuries the Broncos are dealing with on the offensive side, the defense has to play just a little bit harder.

Harris’ stats alone should have him rostered in more lineups. So far he has 13 tackles, 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble.

DEFENSIVE BACKS

TREVON DIGGS – DALLAS COWBOYS v NEW YORK GIANTS

Rostered in 2% of Leagues

The Cowboys defense is giving up roughly 37 + points a game. The are anemic in both the passing game and the run game. Good news? Diggs in on the field for 100% of the defensive snaps. Now he gets 100% chance to disrupt Daniel Jones and the Giants very bad offense.

This is good news for a cornerback who has forced a turnover in two of his first four games.

JEREMY CHINN – CAROLINA PANTHERS @ ATLANTA FALCONS

Rostered in 19% of leagues

Once again I am confused why Chinn is rostered in less than 20% of IDP leagues? He leads the Panthers in tackles and this week he will meet the Falcons who are a heap of ineptitude on both side of the ball.

The added bonus with Chinn is that he has experience as a cornerback, so in addition to the tackles there could be the added dimension of takeaways from your safety spot.

Chinn should be rostered now.
