One Week Teddy Two Gloves Rental- Waiver Wire Gems Week 8

This has been a crazy season for quarterback injuries that might forever change the “One QB” strategy that has worked so well in redraft Fantasy Football over the years.

It is getting harder and harder to find a replacement quarterback that doesn’t keep you up at night with so many players having to roster several replacements. Add to that the issues some quarterbacks you thought you could count on are having and it makes you wonder if any quarterbacks will survive this season.

QB Available

Derek Carr – 80% Available

This is not a sexy pick but at least you know Derek Carr will keep his job all season and so far he has remained healthy. While he only has the 22nd most points at the position this year since Fantasy Football is a weekly game we need to look at weekly statistics. In four of his six games this year Carr has scored 15 or more points which is an acceptable level for a replacement quarterback.

Teddy Bridgewater – 83% Available

This is a one week play for Two-Glove Teddy since Drew Brees returned to practice this week and will be ready to go after their Bye week. But if you need a replacement for a fallen quarterback this week Bridgewater has one more week to wow you in a very easy matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

RB Available

Ty Johnson – 95% Available

The inevitable injury to Kerryon Johnson has left the Lions without a solid starter at running back for this season. Ty Johnson got 14 touches last week most of them coming after Kerryon left the game so he should get the nod over JD McKissic for the majority of the touches going forward.

Mark Walton – 80% Available

OK so he plays for the Miami Dolphins but he did post a decent line last week. Fourteen carries for 66 yards is not bad considering that starting running back Kenyan Drake has averaged only 3.7 yards per carry this season. Someone needs to carry the ball for the Dolphins and Drake could be traded before the deadline.

WR Available

DeVante Parker – 86% Available

Except for week 2 where he got shut out by the New England Patriots’ top ranked defense DeVante Parker has been pretty good this season. He also seems to be the favorite target of Fitzmagic getting targeted 10 times last week. Parker has scored 10 or more points in PPR formats in 4 of 6 games this season which is very good.

A.J. Brown – 83% Available

It seems weird attempting to trust one of Ryan Tannehill’s wide receivers but Tannehill did finish the 2014 season as a top 10 fantasy quarterback. Brown was targeted 8 times last week. He has also scored 12 or more points in 3 of his 7 games while fighting nagging injuries early in the season and he is now healthy.

Zach Pascal – 99% Available

One of my favorite players to pick up earlier this year in deep roster Dynasty teams Pascal finally showed promise last week. While you might think this is one of those one week wonders someone needs to emerge as the second wide receiver in the Colts offense and with Deon Cain underperforming and Parris Campbell hurt it might be Zach.

TE Available

Foster Moreau – 99% Available

He sounds like a character from a horror movie but Moreau has accumulated 100 yards over the last 4 weeks along with a pair of touchdowns.

Since the already underwhelming wide receiver corp is also playing through injuries the tight ends will continue to get more targets. If anything were to happen to Darren Waller we now know that Foster Moreau can pick up any slack.

Jack Doyle – 83% Available

If you need a replacement tight end during Bye weeks or because your starter is injured then grab Doyle right away. He has been targeted more than any other pass catcher except for TY Hilton. While the emergence of Zach Pascal and the eventual return of Parris Campbell could lower his targets Doyle should be more than just a touchdown dependent tight end this year.

Conclusion

All of the players mentioned above are available in at least 60% of public redraft leagues and are likely to be available in your league too. But during the Bye weeks it always pays to go shopping for players that get dropped to roster a replacement during the Bye weeks.

You will be shocked how many well rated players who have been underachievers in recent weeks who are valuable pieces for your team.
