It is week 4 in the 2019 NFL season and that means the start of bye week.
So with the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Jets on a bye this week, you may need to pick up a defense. Or maybe you simply stream defenses week to week…even better. Let’s get to it.
It goes without saying that for now, any team going against the Miami Dolphins is a good pick-up. So for this week that means the LA Chargers are in play. They go into Miami a 16 point favorite.

Seattle Seahawks v Arizona Cardinals
The Seahawks are coming off a brutal defeat at home. The Cardinals are still finding their way. So while they are playing respectable ball…there are defensive fantasy points to be had.
Arizona’s offensive line is ranked 30th according to Pro Football Focus. Quarterback Kyler Murray has been sacked 16 times already this season (second in the NFL to the Tennessee Titans who have given up 17). Although they are playing at the Air Raid speed we suspected, with Murray throwing 45.7 passer per game on average, it has only translated to four touchdowns and three interceptions.
Look for the pass rushers of the Seahawks to try to pad their stats. That only means fantasy points for you.
Pittsburgh Steelers v Cincinnati Bengals
This Monday night football extravaganza is to see which team will not be in the bottom of the AFC North. It’s a close call. What we do know is that the Bengals have allowed 11 sacks so far this season. They are also tied for the lead in the NFL in giveaways.
This is good news for a Steelers’ defense that seemed to find its footing last week against the 49ers. In that losing effort, the defense forced five turnovers including two interceptions. They also managed to get to the quarterback one time.
When the Steelers and Bengals meet it is most certainly a brutal affair (even without the usual suspects being on the field). Expect the same and expect the Steelers defense to rack you up some fantasy points.
Carolina Panthers v Houston Texans
Whether it is because of the 28th ranked offensive line (according to Pro Football Focus rankings) or quarterback Deshaun Watson holding the ball too long, he has been sacked 12 times this season.
Now they are asking that offensive line to go up against Luke Kuechly and company. Kuechly currently leads the NFL with 36 tackles. Then there is cornerback James Bradberry who ranks first among all NFL cornerbacks allowing a passer rating of 29.2. (Yes, his omission on my top 25 rankings for this week was an egregious error on my part…sorry sir).
This is one of those games that has offensive fire power for both teams, but may prove to be a defensive battle. In that case the Texans defense is also in play.
And then there is…
There are two games that will come into the week with over/under of under 40 points and a point spread of less than a field goal. That would be:
Minnesota Vikings v Chicago Bears o/u 38.0 with Bears 2.5 point favorite.
Jacksonville Jaguars v Denver Broncos o/u 38.5 with Broncos a 3.0 point favorite.
Get defensive and go get you some fantasy points. Good luck.
