Fantasy Football: Week 6 QB Rankings

Patriots Brady Packers Rodgers

Welcome to Week 6 of the NFL season. For many of us we are reaching the midpoint of the fantasy football season. Each week is going to be critical to making the playoffs or locking up a top seed.

Which QB should you start? Which streaming options can help you with bye weeks, injuries or bad match-ups?

Streaming Options

Jameis Winston | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | 42% Owned on Yahoo

The ownership for Jameis Winston spiked as the last waiver wire period ran and yet he is still sitting below 50% owned. If you are a Matthew Stafford or Drew Brees owner hopefully you already added him. If he is still floating around your wire run, don’t walk to add him.

This week, Winston faces a Falcons defense that has lost key cogs all season long and it shows. Atlanta has allowed the 8th most passing yards and 4th most fantasy points to opposing QBs.

After a second half against the Bears and a bye week, I expect Winston to perform well in this match-up. Last time Winston played in Atlanta he threw for 281 yards and 4 TDs. I expect a similar stat line this week. Matt Ryan and company should put up points and the Bucs will have to keep pace.

If you looking for a longer term option, Winston can be your guy as well. He faces the Browns and Bengals the next two weeks. Both teams are in the top 11 for passing yards allowed.

Jameis is a top 5 option this week for me. I am using him anywhere I can in re-draft or DFS.

Baker Mayfield | Cleveland Browns | 41% Owned on Yahoo

While I’m not a huge fan of streaming a rookie QB, if I am going to do it this would be the spot. Cleveland is home this week to face a Chargers defense that has been vulnerable against the pass.

Mayfield has eclipsed 40 attempts in his last two games. He should approach that number this week against the Chargers. He should be a top 15-20 option this week.

C.J. Beathard | San Francisco 49ers | 5% Owned on Yahoo

Looking for help in a deeper league? C.J. Beathard is your guy! In his two starts for the 49ers he has averaged 323 yards passing and 2 TDs.

The Packers have given up multiple passing TDs in 3 of 5 games this season. The only games they didn’t was against Josh Allen and Mitch Trubisky in a game the Bears got up huge.

The 49ers secondary is full of question marks and the Packers offense should score plenty. This will force the 49ers to be pass happy and give Beathard plenty of opportunities to produce.

Beathard is a top 20 option for me this week with a shot to be near the top 12. As you can see from my rankings, I would use him over Baker this week.
