Daily Fantasy Football Recap: Falcons’ Matt Ryan soars in Week 1

The Atlanta Falcons’ Matt Ryan was a DFS stud on Sunday, and despite a good game, the Denver Broncos’ Peyton Manning tops my list of duds in Week 1.

Manning threw for 269 yards and 3 TD in the Broncos’ win over the Colts on Sunday night, so why does he lead the pack of Week 1 “duds”?

Typically, in a studs/duds article you’re only going to find the top performers and underperformers for the week. Well, that’s not the angle I will take in my DFS recaps. Not only will I be highlighting the top performers who represented the greatest value at their position for their current price, I will also be pointing out some of the players who failed to give you the full value for their price tags. I consider a “value” player to be a guy who outproduced some of the higher priced options despite their lower game day price.

Fantasy football is very hard to predict, but the purpose of this is to show you that there are better values to be had. When you use a higher-priced player and they wipe out, you are salary. On the other hand, by using one of these top performers, you get “more bang for your buck”, if you will. Instead of rolling with Drew Brees, who scored 19.5 points, but had a price tag of $9,700, you could have chosen to go with Matt Ryan ($7,900). Ryan ended up outscoring Brees by 15 points.
