Everton boss Roberto Martinez spoke very highly of the 19 year old Stones, saying that his transition from right-back to center-half has been very impressive. Spelling the injured Phil Jagielka at the position, Stones has started the last 8 matches and made the most of his appearances. Martinez said of Stones, “He’s got a really good defensive brain and fantastic defensive intensity – but then he’s got the best distribution I’ve seen in a centre-half.” His form on the pitch even has brought some ambitious speculation as a dark horse candidate for the England national team.
