Heading into this season you will likely read about the QB that will be this years Patrick Mahomes. That player does not exist. Mahomes was a very unique case that between talent and circumstance was able to put together one of the best seasons in NFL history. I was an early adopter to Mahomes but even I did not see that coming.

That said, there will be some middle round QB targets that will have the opportunity to outperform their ADP. Two QBs stand out based upon early ADP as potential values heading into draft season.

Rams Jared Goff

Kim Klement – USA TODAY Sports

Jared Goff

Per Fantasy Football Calculator Jared Goff is QB12 and coming off the board in the middle of the 9th round. He was able to finish as QB7 last season despite really struggling following the Rams bye week. The loss of WR Cooper Kupp was a big blow to the Rams offense and Goff. His return should help Goff approach the top 5 QB again this season.

Ben Roethlisberger

The fantasy death of Ben Roethlisberger will be a fun narrative to follow this off-season. Yes Antonio Brown, an all world WR is gone but that doesn’t mean Big Ben should fall to the streamer class of QBs.

He still has Juju Smith-Schuster, who looks to be in the top 10 and possibly top 5 discussion amongst WRs this season. The Steelers also have James Washington, Donte Moncrief, Vance McDonald and others who can step this season. While none of those players will replace the production by themselves, as a group the production should be just fine. Big Ben was QB3 last year. Even if he takes a slight step back he should outperform his QB16 draft day price.
