The United squad is set for a boost with van Persie’s return ahead of this weekend’s match against Sunderland. The striker’s imminent return comes with good timing as squad mates Marouane Fellaini and Jesse Lingard have come down with injuries of their own and are set to miss time. van Persie has yet to feature in the starting XI due to his involvement in Holland’s third place finish in the 2014 World Cup, but appears to be back to match fitness.
