Sunderland defeated Cardiff City 4-0 on Sunday in a relegation battle, earning their 7th point in the last three matches to move into 17th place in the table. The Black Cats will still have work to do to stay clear as they are tied in points with Norwich City, whom sit in 18th, but are ahead on goal differential. Wickham put two into the back of the net for the second time in three matches, scoring a total of five during that span. Fabio Borini and Emanuele Giaccherini each picked up a goal and an assist.
