Rafael, Manchester United – Defender

Rafael left Saturday’s match against Aston Villa at Old Trafford after 45 minutes of play with an apparent thigh injury. The withdrawal from the match seems to have been precautionary, as the defender himself has ruled himself as fit for United’s upcoming Champions League match against Bayern Munich.  “I am OK. My thigh was a little bit tight. We just wanted to make sure I would be OK for Tuesday,” he said of his substitution at halftime. Also being assessed ahead of the tie will be defenders Jonathan Evans and Chris Smalling.
