Jon Niese confirms he’s set to make his 2014 Grapefruit League debut as the starter for Tuesday’s game. Niese felt some discomfort in his throwing shoulder, back in late February. He threw two innings in a scrimmage on Thursday, and he left the outing with no discomfort. If Niese leaves Tuesday’s start with no setbacks, he should be ready for the Mets opening series.
