The San Diego Chargers play at home this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars and they are my number one pick for a streaming defense. I’m going to stick with the theme of targeting the Jaguars until they show me otherwise. The Indianapolis Colts had an excellent game last week against them, with four sacks, one interception and a touchdown. Even though they gave up 17 points (most of which were garbage time), that’s still a nice game for getting the Colts off the waiver wire. The Buffalo Bills gave up 20 points and had just one sack last week; tough to trust them the rest of the season. Cleveland apparently forgot how to play defense and had zero sacks with one interception and zero fumble recoveries (another team that is tough to trust the rest of the way). Let’s take a look at this week which has some excellent match ups.

As I have talked about before, the defensive team playing Jacksonville is going to be an excellent match up every week. It is the San Diego Chargers’ turn this week to smack the Jaguars around. As the Colts showed us last week, the defense does not have to be strong to score a lot of fantasy points for you. According to Yahoo! standard scoring, the defense playing Jacksonville from Week One to Week Three has scored 14 (Philadelphia Eagles), 16 (Washington Redskins) and 17 fantasy points (Indianapolis Colts). Let’s not over think this one, its a simple choice. Here’s a stat for you: according to Pro Football Focus, the Jaguars offensive line has allowed pressure on 25% of dropbacks and 10 sacks have been attributed to their play, worst in the NFL. This one is another slam dunk for double digit points – oh and did I mention the Jaguars will have to travel across the country to play in San Diego on Sunday?

Let it ride this week with the Indianapolis Colts! They get to play at home against the Tennessee offense that has given up eight sacks and four interceptions through three weeks of play and have scored just 17 points in their last eight quarters of football. The Titans have also given up pressure on 24% of their drop backs this year, similar to the Jaguars. This one is more of a hunch, but there are reports that Jake Locker could miss the game this week which bodes well for the Indianapolis Colts defense. If you’re afraid of Charlie Whitehurst, you shouldn’t be playing fantasy football. I love the Colts again this week at home against a weak Titans offense.
Pittsburgh Steelers (available in 88% of Yahoo! leagues)
Pittsburgh gets to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week, who got embarrassed on Thursday night by the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons had three sacks, an interception for a touchdown, a return touchdown and three fumble recoveries. I want to say Tampa Bay had an off game, but I think they could be THAT bad. The Bucs have given up pressure on 30% of their drop backs as per Pro Football Focus and rank 6th worst in pass blocking efficiency. The Steelers had three sacks and two fumble recoveries on Sunday night against the Panthers, who are a much better team than the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers will travel to Pittsburgh which is just another strike against them. There is potential for Mike Glennon to be starting, though he might even be better than Josh McCown. Tampa Bay also has the 3rd worst pass blocking grade through the first three weeks according to Pro Football Focus. The Steelers do have the 3rd worst overall defense according to grades by PFF, but I’m gambling on the Buccaneers being that bad.
A couple of random streamers that could pay off: Miami Dolphins play in Oakland this week; Detroit play in New York against the Jets and the Baltimore Ravens play at home against the Carolina Panthers this week, who did not look great. Hopefully one of the 6 teams I’ve mentioned here work out for you this week – good luck!
