courtesy of: http://larrybrownsports.com I’ve put off writing this article for a few weeks now, ever since Decker signed with the Jets back in March. Perhaps, it was the heat I knew I would take for unceremoniously proclaiming Decker a lock for at top 10 wr finish in 2014, or maybe it had more to do with the fact that I some how wanted to work my man crush on Justin Timberlake’s new album
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Denver Broncos (Sunday 4.05pm EST) Peyton Manning continues to storm through offences. His only problem is if he’s benched in the 4th Q because the Bronco’s are already up by 84 points. Knowshon Moreno has elevated himself to the #1 back in Denver after carrying the ball 17 times against the Cowboys and scoring 21 fantasy points in the process. A nice matchup against the Jags should see him as a RB8-12 this
We’ve all been caught up in the hype machine at some point or another. It’s easy to watch a couple of big pres-season plays and think: “Man this kid’s got it all!” But make sure you see that for what it often is – just a snapshot of the big picture. When drafting for upside, you shouldn’t pay for a players fantasy ceiling – something I fear many people are doing this year. Here are
Chris Johnson has agreed to a 2- year deal with the New York Jets. It is my guess he is on a trial basis, working on an incentive program. The quarterback situation is ambiguous, so the Jets look to lean on the ground game. Johnson will join Chris Ivory in the backfield in what looks to be another NFL platoon. CJ2k is an intriguing pick in fantasy land.
Andre Brown signs with the Texans
Andre Brown is headed to Houston to join the Texans. Brown is an intriguing player that saw his season derailed due to injury in 2013. As a back up to Arian Foster, he will have flex value certain weeks. Brown should see a decent amount of carries. Training camp will give indication on what the split may be. In addition he could see regular snaps if Foster were to miss any significant time, Brown would have tremendous value.
Mike Williams traded to the Bills
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded Mike Williams to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a 6th round draft pick this year. While 2013 was a major disappointment for Williams, he has shown flashes of being a productive receiver in both 2010 and 2012 when he tallied 900+ yards with 9 and 11 touchdowns respectively. He should compete for starting time with Robert Woods and Steve Johnson. Assuming Manuel can stay healthy, Williams could bounce back in 2014.
Value plays are a must in DFS. Here’s a few guys with low values on the up swing with values all under $5,400 on Draft Kings: Brian Roberts – $5,400 It can still be a Holiday with no Jrue! The State Of The Sixers
Don’t be scared by the big dump in Philadelphia, still tons of value which equal fantasy gold. Hunter Pence continued to struggle on Sunday afternoon, going 0 for 3 with a strikeout. He is hitting .157 on the season. Pence could be dropped in the lineup or get a couple of days off to help him get back on track.
Martin Perez threw eight scoreless innings on Sunday against the Astros. Perez induced four double plays on Sunday, which helped his cause. He makes for a interesting spot starter for your fantasy teams depending on the matchup, but he is not one to count on. Perez is sporting a 2.70 ERA through three starsts this season.
Jonathan Villar went 0 for 2 on Sunday. His time as the Astros shortstop may be coming to end much sooner than expected, with Carlos Correa waiting. Villar had nice buy-low potential coming into the season with the ability to steal a lot of bases. However, if he continues to struggle with the bat he could lose playing time.
Arsenal is set to receive a boost to the squad in time for a key stretch as the club looks to hold off a pressing Everton club for the final Champions League spot. On Thursday, club boss Arsene Wegner announced that Özil has a chance to make the squad for Matchweek 35 when the Gunners travel to Hull City. Wayne Rooney, Manchester United – Forward
Club manager David Moyes announced on Thursday that Rooney will indeed not only return to the squad this season, but return in time for Matchweek 35. After a disappointing Champions League result against Bayern Munich, it was said that Rooney would miss the remaining matches with a chipped toe bone. Now the striker has returned to full contact training and is on pace to make the teamsheet, with the injury being said to be a bad bruise that has subsided enough to play. Also set to return to face his former club is Marouane Fellaini after a calf problem. Source: theguardian.com
Tim Howard, Everton – Goalkeeper
Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has been rewarded for his outstanding play with the club with a contract extension. The two sides came to terms on Thursday with a deal set to extend Howard’s current deal by 2 seasons until 2018. As long as Howard stays healthy, the deal will give him a shot at reaching the 500 club appearances plateau, which only 3 players have reached in Everton history. Howard has kept 116 total clean sheets in the Premiere League, good for 10th best in that category. Source: evertonfc.com / @OptaJoe
