Devy Stock Up/Stock Down – Week 2

Each week during the college football season I’ll be giving a Devy player whose stock has risen and some that have fallen.  This can help you target devys, add players to your radar, or see how your devy roster is doing.

Stock Up:

Bryan Edwards, WR, South Carolina

The 2019 NFL Draft looks like it will be loaded at WR with a number of the top players coming into the season tearing it up.  One of those is South Carolina wideout Bryan Edwards who had an incredible day despite the Gamecocks losing to the #3 ranked Georgia Bulldogs.  South Carolina QB Jake Bentley hasn’t exactly impressed, but when the ball has been anywhere near Edwards, the catch will be made.  Edwards has shown his toughness fighting for contested passes and got some good separation this past week against top Georgia DBs.  Where Edwards falls in this WR class remains to be seen, but he will be a name to remember for devy and rookie drafts moving forward.

Stock Down:

Rodney Anderson, RB, Oklahoma

Everyone knew the Oklahoma offense would be loaded, but there was only some conversation about their RB situation. Personally, I liked Trey Sermon a lot after his success last season, but Rodney Anderson became the starter and he was making me look silly for liking Sermon more.  Unfortunately, Rodney Anderson injured his right knee against UCLA and will miss the rest of the season.  Anderson was averaging over 10 yards a carry when he went down and showed superb vision, along with making defenders miss.  Anderson will likely return to school for his senior season (though that isn’t guaranteed), and will likely enter with a stacked 2020 RB class. Unfortunately, Anderson has a long injury history. He broke his leg in 2015 as a freshman and broke a bone in his neck before the 2016 season.  These injuries don’t seem to be the types to have long term effects (though the exact ramifications of his knee remain to be seen), so it could be a good time to buy low on a talented RB in Anderson.
