We are back at it again for another exciting NHL DFS: Wednesday Rivalry Night.  The four game slate for this evening could provide you some solid plays in your DK or FD lineups, so let’s dive right in.

C Evgeny Kuznetzov Washington Capitals (DK $ 6,800/FD $7,400)

Kuznetzov has been hot as of late.  In his last five games he has 11 points (4 G and 7 A).  Looking back at his last 10 games he has put up 16 points with 29 shots on goal, four hits, and three blocked shots.  Kuz is averaging close to 6.0 FPPG on DK in those 10 games and is certainly helped by playing on the top line with Alex Ovechkin and Tom Wilson.  Look for Kuznetzov to feast against the depleted, New York Rangers who rank 26th in scoring defense and give up about three goals per game.

D John Carlson Washington Capitals (DK $6,300/FD $5,900)

Top line defensemen for Washington could see a lot of time with the former, Kuznetzov, Ovechkin, and Wilson and should be a part of those scoring opportunities.  With three goals and eight assists in his last nine matchups, John Carlson has averaged 1.22 PPG and 4.9 FPPG on DK.  As is the case for many defensemen in the NHL, we are not expecting high goal marks but are looking more at the assist category.  However, in Carlson’s case, he has 15 goals and leads the entire NHL in points with 64.  His Corsi (48.8%) and Fenwick (47.2%) numbers are lower this year than they have been in the past, but I look for him to have a big game against the lowly Rangers this evening.

W Clayton Keller Arizona Coyotes (DK $5,600/FD $6,100)

Sure, Vegas is one of the top defensive teams, but this kid Clayton Keller is too good to pass up on, which is why he keeps ending up on my list.  He has been on a hot streak for quite some time.  In the last 14 games, Keller has 6 goals and 11 assists and has been a +5 in those games combined.  Keller is currently on a nine-game point streak and I look for that to continue tonight in Vegas.  He does not spend much time in the defensive end of the ice with a 60.2 oZS%.

D Nikita Zadorov Colorado Avalanche (DK $3,000/FD $4,000)

This might look like a strange play, but here’s the way I look at it.  Zadorov is a top line center on a high-flying (pun intended in the Rockies) Colorado team, at home, against a Flyers team on the 2nd night of a back-to-back.  He plays alongside the top defensemen on the team, Tyson Barrie.  If for nothing at all, he is involved in plenty of scoring chances, handing the puck off to his line mate or saucing the puck up the ice to Nathan MacKinnon.  He can be had for a cheap $3,000 on DK, which will make it easier to core up more solid players in other areas of your lineup.
