Welcome back for another NHL DFS:  Wednesday Rivalry Night edition. Tonight is a quiet slate with just four matchups.  However, we could be in for some fast paced action, and a few high scores. Let’s take a look at some exciting additions or core pieces for your daily NHL lineup. Here we go!

Arizona Coyotes @ Buffalo Sabres

Montreal Canadiens @ Pittsburgh Penguins

Boston Bruins @ St. Louis Blues

Anaheim Ducks @ Calgary Flames

C – Jack Eichel – Buffalo Sabres (DK $7,100/FD $7,400)

Eichel is finally healthy, at home, and against a poor defense, Arizona Coyotes (28th against opposing Cs).  Eichel holds a ridiculous oZS% vs dZS% split 61.4/38.6.  He leads the team in goals (22) and assists (32) and second on the team in SOG (211).  His numbers would be even higher, but the ankle injury kept him out a little over a month.  However, he is back and ready to put up some points against a weak defense.  He may be expensive tonight, but should be worth every penny as part of your core.

W – Clayton Keller – Arizona Coyotes (DK $5,800/FD $5,900)

In what could be an old-fashioned shoot out between two bottom dwellers, Clayton Keller could be in for a night.  Similar to Eichel, Keller has a high oZS% 60.6 scoring 9 points in his last 10 games with a +5.  He has been one of the only bright spots offensively on a disappointing Coyotes team.  At just 19 years of age, Keller leads the team in scoring (53 points on 20 G and 33 A).  He is second on the team in SOG (178) and has a high shooting % (11.9).  Buffalo ranks 30th in the NHL against opposing RW, which is very good news for a young point scorer like Keller.

D – Alex Pietrangelo – St. Louis Blues (DK $6,100/FD $5,800)

One of the top defensive choices for the night in DK and FD may seem like a hefty price.  However, Pietrangelo has been playing out of his mind lately scoring 11 points in his last five games (4 goals and 11 assists).  He has played some really inspiring hockey against solid opponents, and getting these points in four games because of one dud against Colorado, this includes a +5 against the LA Kings and a 4-point night against the Blackhawks.  Boston is solid defensively, but I’m not sure there is a team that can slow down Pietrangelo right now.  He is one of the many players on the Blues with a CF% and FF% above 50.0 and receives the most ice time averaging around 25 minutes/game.  The captain is fourth on the team in points (50) and second in SOG (193).  It’s safe to say, no matter the opponent, if Pietrangelo is on the ice, they are a threat to score.

D – Marco Scandella – Buffalo Sabres (DK $3,600/FD $3,700)

No he is not your top defensemen on the lowly Buffalo Sabres, but Scandella is line mates with the teams top defender Rasmus Ristolainen.  Clearly based on a few of my other picks for tonight, I’m leaning towards a high score in the Coyotes vs. Sabres matchup.  For the cheaper price, I’ll take my chances with Scandella joining in the offensive zone and maybe getting a point with the help of Ristolainen, Eichel, or Sam Reinhart. In his previous matchup with the Coyotes, Scandella played a healthy 27 minutes and produced an assist.  He is a shot taker from the blue line and only trails his line mate Ristolainen in shots on goal (127) as a defensemen.  Where he does lead the team is blocked shots (102), and once again the only other teammate even remotely close is his line mate.
