NHL DFS: Wednesday Rivalry Night

Welcome back to the next installment of Wednesday rivalry night.  Today we will take a look at our six game slate and see who we can plug into our NHL DFS lineups for this evening.

G Lightning Andrei Vasilevskiy (DK $8,500/FD $9,300)

Goalie is the position in your lineup that can make or break your night.  So it’s a fairly easy decision to pick the top goalie on the best team in the NHL against the lowly Sabres missing Jack Eichel.  We’re chasing a win here, and it seems that Vasilevskiy has the best chance at it tonight.  Additionally, the Lightning got even stronger defensively at the trade deadline adding the former Rangers 28-year old captain, Ryan McDonagh.

C Lightning Steven Stamkos (DK $7,500/FD $8,800)

Stamkos his having one heck of a season, and he’s finally healthy.  He possesses the puck at a high rate with a 53.7 CF% and 52.9 FF% which ranks third on his team.  The hope is that Nikita Kucherov is available to play tonight because those two on a line together have produced 102 even strength goals when on the ice together.  However, the Lightning have so much fire power this year that it should not matter who is lined up with Stammer, he’ll find a way to get points.  In his last 15 games, he has produced six goals and nine assists and has been a +3 in that time.

C Islanders Mathew Barzal (DK $6,100/FD $6,600)

Barzal as of right now is the clear front-runner for the Caulder Trophy as the top rookie in the NHL.  He is blowing away the competition, leading all rookies in assists (49), points (66), and points per game (1.05) through 63 games.  In his last 11 games, Barzal has a goal and 14 assists.  He has been the 2nd line center between Jordan Eberle (22 goals and 23 assists) and Anthony Beauvillier (14 goals and 10 assists).  Barzal and Eberle together both have CF% and FF% above 50.0 which lead to a ton of scoring opportunities.  It has already been confirmed that back-up goalie Antti Niemi will be between the pipes tonight for the Canadiens, and he has struggled this year. Niemi is 3-6-2 with a .892 SV% and gives up about 3.76 goals per game.

D Avalanche Nikita Zadorov (DK $3,000/FD $3,800)

Zadorov is a top line defenseman on on the Avs paired with their best defensive player Tyson Barrie.  You could pick Barrie for your lineup, but he is going to break your bank.  So let’s take a chance on his partner getting some points tonight with the help of his line mate Barrie, and some of the teams offensive star power at forward and center.  They will be up against a tired opponent as the Flames were shutout last night, and on their second night of a back-to-back.
