Fantasy Basketball: Add Dejounte Murray

Spurs Dejonte Murray

With the NBA season in full swing some players are emerging into roles that most did not expect. They are taking advantage of an injury or new role with their team producing for fantasy basketball owners. Each week on Fake Pigskin I will be back to give you some names that are floating around a good amount of waiver wires that can help you win this seaosn. Who should you target if you need help?

Dejounte Murray | G | San Antonio Spurs
61.8% Owned on ESPN

When I build my fantasy basketball teams I love to target guards who rebound and bigs who can shoot threes. Dejounte Murray fits amazingly into the first bucket perfectly. He has played three games this season and has double-digit rebounds in two of three games. Murray is a willing passer that has six assists in each of the last two games. There may be some concern that his minutes will fluctuate or go away when Tony Parker returns but I’m not so sure. Murray is a big part of this team and should continue to fill the the stat sheets.

Justin Holiday | G/F | Chicago Bulls
43.2% Owned on ESPN

The Chicago Bulls are a mess and lack a real offensive identity. Justin Holiday is taking advantage of that situation to help fantasy basketball owners. First, he is getting the minutes to produce, averaging 36 mpg. In those minutes he is averaging 18.3 points, 4 rebounds and chipping with assists, blocks and steals. He has the green light to fire from long distance taking almost 10 per game. Assuming he keeps this play up, he should remain a starter that plays heavy minutes.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson | F | Brooklyn Nets
36.2% Owned on ESPN

playdraftWith Jeremy Lin out for the season the Nets are working on their rotations and figuring out where the production will come from. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson should be one of the biggest risers in terms of expected production. He has played 25 min or more in three of four games thus far. In those contests he is averaging 15.6 PPG and and 4.3 rebounds in those games. He also can contribute to steals and blocks.

Domantas Sabonis | F | Indiana Pacers
16.3% Owned on ESPN

Domantas Sabonis was labeled a “bust” during his rookie season in OKC. He clearly had confidence issues and with Russell Westbrook doing his thing there wasnt much room for the rookie to grow. After being traded this summer, it looks like the second year forward is starting to round into shape. For a Pacers team that is finding there way and void of a lot of offensive talent Sabonis fills a need. He has scored in fifteen points or more in three of four games. He also is crashing the glass and has double figure boards in his last two games. He can provide front court help scoring 22 or more points in 3 of 4 games this seaosn.

Caris LeVert | F | Brooklyn Nets
12.2% Owned on ESPN

Another player that should see more minutes and more opportunity for the Nets is Caris LeVert. He has started play well over the last two games averaging 15.5 points, 7 rebounds and 4.5 assists. He is playing more as a facilitator especially with D’Angelo Russell off the floor. He is a nice add especially when you consider how available he is.

Terry Rozier | G | Boston Celtics
35.8% Owned on ESPN

The Boston Celtics are looking for help with Gordon Hayward done for the season. Terry Rozier has an opportunity to produce seeing close to 30 minutes per game over the last three games. Like Murray, Rozier is a guard who contributes with rebounding totaling 20 over the last three games. He is averaging 11.5 points, 4 assists and 2 steals this season in addition to the rebounding. He is player that should gain more traction and help fantasy owners as the season rolls along.
