The Degenerate Diary Tuesday October 24

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Do you know what the single worst part of daily fantasy is?  Take a minute, because it is probably not even on the top 10 of your list.

Stat Corrections.  Man, I hate stat corrections.  Last night, I thought I took down the late night Four-Point Play, only to check my phone 25 minutes later to fall to third costing me a few thousand.  This feeling is honestly worse than a late scratch.  Regardless, tomorrow we have a nice six game slate that has a lot of really nice plays.

Here are my tournament thoughts for Tuesday, October 24th:

Core Guys (DK/FD)

Damian Lillard PG (8400/9900) This is also a better play on DK. The Pelicans are not really interested in playing defense averaging 114 points against. This is projected to be the second highest game of the night and should be a close game with the Blazers favored by 4.5. Lillard can easy be the highest scoring point guard of the night at $300 less than Kyrie on DK.

Terry Rozier PG/SG (5500/5500) Marcus Smart did not practice on Monday and still remains day to day and I do not think he will play tomorrow. Rozier should see 30 minutes again tomorrow and has averaged 29 fppg so far this year. He’s a great source of peripheral stats averaging 2 steals, 3 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game. If you watch him play, he has that knack for getting in position for a quick rebound to push the ball.

D.J. Augustin PG/SG (5100/5900) Augustin put in 36.5 fantasy points last game vs Cleveland. With Payton out again tomorrow, you can pencil him into your lineups. He scored 22 fantasy points three days ago against the Nets and he was coming off of the bench. He should easily beat value in this high scoring matchup.

Justin Holiday SG/SF (5900/6400) In the Bulls first two games this season, Holiday is averaging 27.75 fppg but he is shooting 29% on 17 shot attempts a game. Those shots will start falling soon and tomorrow could be the day as the Bulls always play the Cavaliers tough.

Nikola Vucevic C (8300/9800) This is a stronger play on DK. Vooch has been on fire this season averaging 52 fppg. He gets another matchup with the Nets who he torched for 63 points a couple days ago. He’s shooting threes now and is hitting 50% through three games. He took 8 threes last game for the Nets so expect him to chuck away again.

High Upside Plays

DeMarre Carroll SF/PF (5000/5800) Carroll has benefitted greatly with the change of scenery. He’s averaging 30 fppg so far and he’s a solid source of steals, blocks, rebound, and threes.

Jrue Holiday PG/SG (6500/6900) He broke out last game versus the Lakers and gets another fast paced matchup. Lillard isn’t known to be a good defender, so Holiday should exploit this matchup. Also he’s struggling from three so far (16%), he’s due to hit a couple threes as a 36% career shooter from three.

Aaron Gordon PF/SF (6900/8000) Surprise! Another guy from the Magic/Nets game. Gordon will be back tomorrow after spraining his ankle in the opener. He’s would be a core play if not for the fact that Vogel tends to be more cautious with his guys after injuries. He could hit easy beat value in 30 minutes in this matchup, but he’s not guaranteed to get a full workload.

Joe Ingles SG/SF (4700/5000) With Hood out, Ingles has needed to step into a bigger role on the perimeter. He’s a 40% shooter from three and can fill up the stat sheet. Ingles shined last season in the playoffs and has let it continue into the early season. He is a solid play while he is still at this price.

No Way Jose

Ricky Rubio PG (6400/7500) DK is inviting you to play him but Patrick Beverley has been an absolute beast this season. Clippers averaging only 39 fantasy points against this season.

Dwayne Wade PG/SG (5000/5000) Wade is old and washed up. No bench role or Chicago comeback narrative will help this guy.

Best of luck to everyone! Hopefully no one gets tilted by a stat correction.
