Fantasy Football: Week 6 Waiver Wire

Packers RB Aaron Jones

It is time to attack the Week 6 Waiver Wire! Can you believe its already Week effing 6?!! The bye weeks are in full swing with Buffalo, Dallas, Seattle and Cincinnati all off this week. The fantasy playoffs will be here before we know it.  These players should be targeted as we continue to roll along.

Aaron Jones | RB | Green Bay packers
57% Owned on Yahoo!

A week go Aaron Jones was 11% owned and was a name featured in this column. Between the mystery around if Ty Montgomery would play and who the guy behind him was Jones wasn’t added in a every league. That probably changes this week.

Jones was the clear starter on Sunday and flourished in his role. He ran for 125 yards and a TD on 19 carries. He also caught his only target for nine yards. With Montgomery dealing with his rib injury Jones could see starter volume in the short term. His emergence also allows the Packers to be patient getting Montgomery back on the field.

Andre Ellington | RB | Arizona Cardinals
56% Owned on Yahoo!

PPR owners must take note of Andre Ellington who continues to get peppered with targets. He had 10 targets on Sunday and 32 over the past three weeks. Per Evan Silva, Ellington leads the backfield in snaps for 3 straight weeks and is second on the team in targets. With bye weeks and RB injuries all over the place, Ellington provides a safe weekly floor each week.

Robert Kelley | RB | Washington Redskins
51% Owned on Yahoo!

The Washington Redskins Rob Kelley is one of my favorite players to add this week, especially if you need RB help. Between his injury issues and the bye week, his ownership is down to 51% on Yahoo. He gets to face the San Francisco 49ers defense allowing 116.6 yards per game this season. Kelley has the potential to make noise this week and going forward. He has Dallas, Seattle and New Orleans in the coming weeks as well.

Jerick McKinnon | RB | Minnesota Vikings
26% Owned on Yahoo!

If you google a flaming pile of garbage, you’ll likely find a picture of Latavius Murray who looks like an old man waddling through the buffet as he approaches the offensive line. Jerick McKinnon on the other hand looked explosive. He had 16 carries for 95 yards, including a long TD run. He also caught all 6 of his targets for 51 yards.

Murray on the other had just 31 yards on his 12 carries and was targeted twice in the pass game. McKinnon is the Minnesota RB to own going forward. He fits much more of what Dalvin Cook did and is not game script dependent. Add him where you need RB help.

Elijah McGuire | RB | New York Jets
17% Owned on Yahoo!

Elijah McGuire is a RB to add this week. Week 5 was not awesome for him but the Jets offense as a whole had an issue. This week, McGuire has a real opportunity to produce. Bilal Powell was injured in Week 5 and likely misses this week. He should see feature back type volume. Great player to target with the injuries that are piling up at RB.

Texans Will Fuller

Brett Coomer – Houston Chronicle

Will Fuller | WR| Houston Texans
74% Owned on Yahoo!
Another week, another pair of TDs for the Texans Will Fuller. Volume hasn’t been the friend of Fuller but the way Deshaun Watson is playing, he hasn’t needed it. While owners shouldn’t expect this going forward, he should be owned in 100% of leagues. He also makes a great trade chip as some have traded him for Amari Cooper straight up. Add him if he is floating around in your league.

Devin Funchess | WR | Carolina Panthers
64% Owned on Yahoo!

It was another heavy volume week for Devin Funchess who was targeted 8 times by Cam Newton. He caught 7 of those targets for 53 yards and a score. As long as Newton continues to play better, there should be plenty of opportunities for him. He is a nice option in PPR with that workload but non-PPR league owners can utilize him as well.

Mike Wallace | WR | Baltimore Ravens
33% Owned on Yahoo!

While Mike Wallace can frustrate some owners, he is a name to target this week if you need WR help. The Ravens offense is starting to play better and Wallace has been one of the benefactors. He caught all three of his targets against Oakland for 133 yards. This on the heels of a 6 catch game where he saw 10 targets and found the end zone against Pittsburgh. While the downside is there, the upside is too. He provides a great boom/bust play when you need to shoot for the stars.

Evan Engram | TE | New York Giants
69% Owned on Yahoo!

The TE position as a whole is a complete mess and one of the few TEs we could count on, CHarles Clay hurt his knee and will miss a few weeks. With the rest of the Giants pass catchers getting injured, including three that are done for the year, Engram is one of the last remaining targets for Eli Manning. He should see plenty of opportunities to produce and thats all you can ask for.

Tyler Higbee | TE | Los Angeles Rams
0% Owned on Yahoo!

All credit to Ron McCleese for this call but it’s definitely one I am on board with. At a position that is a wasteland, volume is king. Higbee had 8 targets on Sunday against Seattle. THat was on the heels of a 6 target performance. Jared Goff is looking his way early and often. He is widely available if you have to dig deep this week. He has a nice matchup against the Giants after the bye. Even if you dont pick him up this week, keep in mind for Week 9.
