NFL Week 4 Picks Against the Spread

Against the spread

After back to back weeks of going 2-1 against the spread, I have a couple of games you’re going to want to play this weekend. Big Ben laying a dud was pretty obvious last week and Jordan Howard’s bounce-back performance helped the bears not only cover, but get a well-needed win at home. I’ll admit the Atlanta-Detroit game scared me near the end – that would have been quite the bad-beat had the Lions pulled it off with no time left on the clock. My only losses the past 2 weeks were the 2 games I tried to fade the chiefs.

ATS Record: 4-5

These spreads were taken from http://sportsbook.ag as of 9/30/17.

Cincinnati Bengals -3 at Cleveland Browns

Yes, this is a divisional road team that I’m picking and I realize that is risky. Cincy played much better last week against an awesome Green Bay team and Mixon is now the star of the backfield. This offense is going to be much better for most for the regular season. Kizer has the look of a future team-leader but for now he coughs up the ball way too much for me to trust him. Cleveland can’t get anything going on the ground and it’s going to force Kizer to go to the air early and often. I’ll take a much more talented Cincy team any day here.

Buffalo Bills +8.5 at Atlanta Falcons

It’s tough fading a team who has won for me the past couple weeks, but I’m sick and tired of it coming down to the wire. Buffalo is quite underrated right now in the public eye and the Falcons are continuing to show that they are more likely to pull another Super Bowl meltdown than run up the score in games this year. I think they are the far better team here, and think there is a good chance that they play like they know that. Atlanta comes out softer than they should and the Bills keep it close or win.

Los Angeles Charges -2 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

I had to take at least 1 home team this week! I love the Eagles this year and I’m a huge Wentz supporter, but I can’t see Rivers letting this team start 0-4. This is a must-win game at home, in the first half of the season, where Rivers is usually slinging. Philly is coming off an emotional division-rivalry win against the Giants this week and is primed to regress a bit in this one. I think the Chargers come out firing on all cylinders and this one easily hits the over.
