Fantasy Football Week 3 Waiver Wire

The Week 3 Waiver Wire looks like a grocery store after a zombie apocalypse. Could there be a box of Twinkies around? Maybe. Is it worth taking that risk? Probably not.

This is a great week to let others blow their FAAB or top waiver priority and grab whats left. There are some preemptive pickups that could pay dividends come seasons end. Lets find some players to stash as we look ahead to Week 4 and beyond.

Wendell Smallwood | RB | Philadelphia Eagles
6% Owned on Yahoo!

The Philadelphia Eagles lost their do it all RB Darren Sproles over for the weekend for the rest of the season with a torn ACL and a broken arm. Wendell Smallwood looked great against the Giants racking up 71 yards on 12 carries. He also got two targets in pass game. Legarrette Blount played well on Sunday too, averaging 5.6 YPC. This was on the heels of a game where he got 0 carries. Most owners are desperate for RB help and Smallwood could be “the guy.” You likely won’t have clarity for this week but can play him in a pinch against the Chargers this week.

D’onta Foreman | RB | Houston Texans
17% Owned on Yahoo!

playdraftThis name being a waiver wire add won’t make those that own Lamar Miller happy, myself included but D’Onta Foreman looks like a name that should be added if you have room. Miller has underwhelmed through three games this season. Foreman has been garnering more touches over the past two weeks and got involved in the passing game against the Patriots. He likely won’t be a name to use this week or next, stashing him could provide a ton of value down the stretch if the carries flip for the two Houston backs.

Alex Collins | RB | Baltimore Ravens
2% Owned on Yahoo!

This is a deep league or desperation play. Ravens Alex Collins was the best back on Sunday in an ugly game for the Ravens. Terrance West and Javorius Allen are still in the mix and tbh Allen is my favorite option in this backfield. The offensive line is in shambles but Collins flourished in spot duty. Interesting stash if youre in need of RB help.

Branden Oliver | RB | Los Angeles Chargers
2% Owned on Yahoo!

Is this name sexy or exciting in any way? No chance! If you are a Melvin Gordon owner however, you should be putting in a waiver claim. Gordon is dealing with bone bruise that shouldn’t keep him out of Sundays afternoon tilt with the Eagles. That said, with the Chargers playing in the late afternoon, the pickins are slim if Gordon can’t go. Oliver would get most if not all the targets and provide a solid floor.

Giants Sterling Shepard

Sterling Shepard | WR | New York Giants
35% Owned on Yahoo!

The Giants offense came out of its shell on Sunday against the Eagles. A big part of the explosion was Sterling Shepard remind us how talented he is. Shepard caught 7 of his 10 targets for 133 yards and a TD. This production came in a game where both Odell Beckham Jr and Brandon Marshall had big days. The Giants are going to lean on their pass game with the run game in shambles. Shepard can be a PPR weapon with two 7 catch performances in his first three games.

Travis Benjamin | WR | Los Angeles Chargers
5% Owned on Yahho

Travis Benjamin had his best game of the season on Sunday catching 5 of his 8 targets for 105 yards. He is a deep threat who can explode in a given week. If QB Philip Rivers is going to have to throw 40 times or close to it, there should be games where Benjamin can help. Youll never feel great about using him but his deep ball ability makes him a great weekly dart throw.

Bruce Ellington | WR | Houston Texans
0% Owned on Yahoo!

The Houston Texans seemed happy to have Bruce Ellington back on Sunday. They were actively trying to get Ellington involved in a multitude of ways. He caught 4 of his 7 targets for 59 yards and a TD. They also gave him a carry on an end around. While Ellington isn’t a guy those in 10 and 12 team leagues should target, he is a guy for those in deeper leagues to target. With Jaelen Strong out of the picture and Deshaun Watson looking solid, Ellington could provide a solid weekly floor especially with bye weeks coming.

Will Fuller | WR | Houston Texans
3% Owned on Yahoo!

If you are looking for upside potential, Will Fuller should be in consideration. He practiced last week and is expected to be ready to roll in Week 4. Deshaun Watson flashed in Week 3 and showed the ability to make a variety of throws. If he and Fuller can develop rapport, there could be opportunity to be a fantasy difference maker.

Buccaneers Cameron Brate

MARK LOMOGLIO – ICON SPORTSWIRE

Cameron Brate | TE | Tampa Bay Buccaneers
40% Owned on Yahoo!

Cameron Brate is a TE that should be on your radar if you lost Tyler Eifert or are looking for a guy who gets looks around the goal line. QB Jameis WInston loves Brate and the two connected for a TD on Sunday. Brate saw a ton of red zone work a season ago and should be inline for it again this year. Brate should feast with the Giants and Cardinals in two of the next three weeks. They’re both notoriously bad against opposing TEs.

Charles Clay | TE | Buffalo Bills
22% Owned on Yahoo!

At a position full of injury and unknowns, Charles Clay has show stability over the first three weeks. He has 13 catches on 18 targets and found the end zone in two of three weeks. If you want a safe floor with a potential to score a TD, Clay is your guy.
