Fantasy Baseball: Week 15 Pitching Streamers

Indians Mike Clevinger

We won’t need to dig too deep for pitching streamers this week due to some very favorable matchups, which is a nice change.  Closing in on the trade deadline will make streaming interesting, and hopefully, give us more options to choose from. Mike Clevinger | Cleveland Indians

(7/18 @ SF, 7/23 vs. TOR)

ESPN: 42%   Yahoo: 52%

Clevinger has put together a few good starts and he’ll have a two-start week for Week 15. The more favorable of the two is the first against the Giants in San Francisco. He gets a huge boost with getting to start at AT&T Park, and not having pitch to a DH. Clevinger’s given up just two runs or less in his last five starts. While the Giants don’t strikeout a lot, he hasn’t Clevinger has gotten four or more in his starts so far this season. It’s no secret that the Giants are having difficulties offensively, so you’ll want to gain an edge with these matchups when you can.

Trevor Cahill | San Diego Padres

(7/21 @ SF)

ESPN: 31%   Yahoo: 32%

Cahill was very impressive to start the season before his stint on the DL. His first two games back were not what we were used to seeing, but it’s just that – his first starts back. The Padres probably wouldn’t activate him if he weren’t fully healthy, especially considering the fact that he’ll draw trade interest. Cahill’s another pitcher this week that’s starting against the Giants at AT&T Park and he’ll look to improve upon his starts against the Phillies and Indians. Much like James Paxton, he’ll get back into the groove of things, and this start is a great opportunity for it.

Tyler Chatwood | Colorado Rockies

(7/20 @ PIT)

ESPN: 16%   Yahoo: 20%

We’re considering more Rockies pitchers than before, especially when they’re on the road. Chatwood gets the start this week in Pittsburgh, which is a nice change in scenery for him as opposed to Coors Field. Even with pitching at Coors Field, Chatwood doesn’t have a problem with homeruns, but rather it’s the walks that he gives up. He has an LOB% of 74%, which is better than Lance McCullers, Chris Archer, and Stephen Strasburg, to name a few. The Pirates to take their fair share of walks, with a walk rate of 9%, but if Chatwood can strand those runners, he should be in good shape.

Jerad Eickhoff | Philadelphia Phillies

(7/17 @ MIA, 7/23 vs. MIL)

ESPN: 10%   Yahoo: 35%

It’s a two-start week for Eickhoff, with the first being the one you want him in if you have to choose. He’d fallen out of favor for a bit as a streamer but it looks as though he’s getting back on track. In his last two starts, Eickhoff had allowed just one run, and that was against the D-Backs and Padres. Walks are sometimes an issue with him too, like Chatwood. Getting to pitch at Marlins Park falls in his favor, and hopefully, he’ll be able to keep their hitters off-balanced. Eickhoff is a risky stream, but he’s probably a better option for you than others who are available this week.

Thank you for reading, and good luck with your picks!
