MLB DFS: Targets for 4/10

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

We’re covering the 5-game main slate for MLB DFS today, with the other 5 games being in the afternoon. What makes this slate fun is the 11.5 run total that is Coors Field!

Pitchers:

Jacob deGrom (NYM @ PHI)

Moneyline: -147

Over/Under: 7.5

FanDuel: $10,000/DraftKings: $9,300

deGrom started off the season strong against the Braves, pitching 6 innings, 6 strikeouts, no runs, and giving up just 2 hits, and 1 walk. The Mets are in Philadelphia tonight, where the Phillies had an outburst yesterday against Jeremy Guthrie. That is not a sign of things to come for the Phillies. As a team, they are 3rd in the league with a  26.2% K-rate. deGrom should go in to Citizens Bank Park and dominate.

Brandon Finnegan (CIN @ PIT)

Moneyline: +114

Over/Under: 8.5

FanDuel: $7,200/DraftKings: $7,300

Yes, I’m recommending a pitcher whose team isn’t favored to win. How often do we roster a pitcher who doesn’t get the win? It’s not a bad thing to target them if the spot is right, and I think it is tonight. Finnegan had a strong start at home against the Phillies, where he outdueled Jerad Eickhoff (who also had a great start). The Pirates are a better offensive team, but this game is at PNC Park which is better for pitchers. Even in a game where he gives up 2 runs without the win (and/or quality start on FD), there’s enough salary leftover to load up on bats to make up for it.

Hitters:

Lucas Duda (NYM @ PHI)

FanDuel: $2,600 (1B)/DraftKings: $3,600 (1B)

Besides the Coors Field game, there aren’t a lot of options at first base. He’s better for his price on FD, so Duda might be worth a try and pay up elsewhere. He batted 6th last night, which was the highest position in the order that he’s been slotted in this season. Hopefully he stays there to see an extra at-bat. With a .834 OPS and .223 ISO against RHPs, there’s upside here for fantasy points. Eickhoff does give up 1.64 HR/9 in his career, so maybe Duda can get us that homerun.

Logan Forsythe (LAD @ CHI)

FanDuel: $3,300 (2B)/DraftKings: $3,500 (2B)

With lefty, Jon Lester, on the mound, Forsythe should leadoff today. He’s one of those righty hitters who is much better when they have the platoon. Forsythe’s not one to steal many bases, but he could get one here tonight since Lester doesn’t do well with holding runners on base.

Aledmys Diaz (STL @ WAS)

FanDuel: $3,100 (SS)/DraftKings: $3,900 (SS)

Diaz had a hot start in April 2016, and this month looks like it’s shaping up to be that way. He had a contract rate of 83.4% last season, and 77.3% so far this season. Tanner Roark is on the mound for the Nationals, and he’s pitched well when he’s in the rotation. Diaz has an advantage because he’s able to put the bat on the ball while having some pop. On a slate where we don’t have many games to choose from, Diaz is my favorite target at this position.

Adam Duvall (CIN @ PIT)

FanDuel: $3,400 (OF)/DraftKings: $3,900 (1B/OF)

Duvall is of interest because of his power upside if you want to look outside of the Coors Field game. The park shift and having Tyler Glasnow on the mound isn’t ideal so this is a better GPP play, for sure. Duvall actually has slight reverse splits. Against RHPs, he’s slugging .507, an OPS of .799, and ISO of .265.

Other hitter to target:

Tony Wolters (COL vs. SD)

FanDuel: $3,100 (C)/DraftKings: $3,300 (C)

Matt Carpenter (STL @ WAS)

FanDuel: $3,000 (2B)/DraftKings: $4,100 (1B/3B)

Yangervis Solarte (SD @ COL)

FanDuel: $3,200 (3B)/DraftKings: $4,700 (2B/3B)

Nolan Arenado (COL vs. SD)

FanDuel: $4,900 (3B)/DraftKings: $5,300 (3B)

Adam Eaton (WAS vs. STL)

FanDuel: $3,700 (OF)/DraftKings: $4,200 (OF)

Carlos Gonzalez (COL vs. SD)

FanDuel: $3,900 (OF)/DraftKings: $5,200 (OF)
