IDP/OFF ROOKIE DRAFT MOCK – Part Two (Picks 37-72)

baker

As I continue with my rookie draft mock, we’ve reached the second half of this mock with rounds 4 to 6.  Every rookie draft will vary; we know that – I’m just trying to help on where I value the IDP’s coming up and who you can anticipate being available, there’ll definitely be some options.  Any league that has IDP’s should have a rookie draft that’s 6 or 8 rounds; think 6 is just about right – so if you’re league only has like 3 rounds; got to change that up.

You can find part one here and you’ll notice in the second half all the IDP value to be had; so you can go ahead and spend your first 2 or 3 picks to pile on the offensive side.

IDP scoring system: (solos: 1.50) (assisted: .50) (sacks: 4.0) (TFL: 1.50) (INT: 5) (PD: 3) (FF: 3) (FR: 2)

magloire

4.01 COOPER KUPP WR
4.02 JALEN REEVES-MAYBIN LB
4.03 PAUL MAGLOIRE JR LB
4.04 JALEN ROBINETTE WR
4.05 ELIJAH HOOD RB
4.06 DEDE WESTBROOK WR
4.07 PAT MAHOMES QB
4.08 ELIJAH MCGUIRE RB
4.09 OBI MELIFONWU DB
4.10 MALIK HOOKER DB
4.11 BUDDA BAKER DB
4.12 ARDARIUS STEWART WR

Round 4 Takeaways:  The second tier of LB’s come off the board here with Reeves-Maybin and Magloire Jr.  There’s even a chance that you could wait for Magloire (if you’re league mates have no idea who he is) but I’m a fan of his game; he will go thru a brick wall to get to the ball carrier.  You can see the DB’s fly off the board one after another and I think that’s what may possibly happen in some leagues; once Jamal gets taken you’ll see the domino effect shortly after.  Potential IDP Profiles with those DB’s could be – Obi = Kam Chancellor / Malik = Devin McCourty / Budda = Earl Thomas.  Ardarius Stewart could be a potential riser here as could Hood; we’ll just have to wait until draft day to see where they land.

elijah lee

5.01 COREY CLEMENT RB
5.02 JAKE BUTT TE
5.03 MITCHELL TRIBUSKY QB
5.04 ELIJAH LEE LB
5.05 JONATHAN ALLEN DL
5.06 DEREK BARNETT DE/OLB
5.07 GERALD EVERETT TE
5.08 BLAIR BROWN LB
5.09 JABRILL PEPPERS DB
5.10 JARRAD DAVIS LB
5.11 DEREK RIVERS DE/OLB
5.12 DONNEL PUMPHREY RB

Round 5 Takeaways:  a handful more of IDP’s coming off the board here, some potentially qualified starters in this round like Jonathan Allen & Blair Brown.  It would be sad if Barnett gets drafted to be a 3-4 OLB, so we must not root for that.  The second QB comes off the board in Tribusky; I think he’ll be a solid starter soon.  Elijah Lee is my wildcard here, has 3-down upside and would like too see him as a WILL in a 3-4 scheme – like in NYJ or DEN, would be ideal fits.  You’ll probably see Jabrill go way earlier because he has a lot of homers floating around that’ll draft him based on name – if so, that’s ok you won’t be missing much.  This is about right where I’d feel comfortable taking a shot on Peppers.

leggett

6.01 JORDAN LEGGETT TE
6.02 TYUS BOWSER LB
6.03 CARL LAWSON DE/OLB
6.04 ARTAVIS SCOTT WR
6.05 MARCUS WILLIAMS DB
6.06 BUCKY HODGES TE
6.07 TEDRIC THOMPSON DB
6.08 ISHMAEL ZAMORA WR
6.09 TAKKARIST MCKINLEY DE/OLB
6.10 DESHONE KIZER QB
6.11 XAVIER WOODS DB
6.12 FADOL BROWN DL

Round 6 Takeaways:  we’ve reached the last round and there are still quality players to be had, so stockpile if you might and place these guys on taxi squads.  I think Leggett is one of the underrated TE’s in this draft, but this draft class is so talented.  Would like too see Bowser get moved to WLB, for a guy his size he has no problem playing in coverage and has the ability to get after the QB as well.   Would be an ideal fit in DET, MIN (move Barr to SLB) or BUF.  Marcus Williams is an underrated DB heading into the draft; could land on a team where he can start right away.  Keep tabs on both Marcus and Xavier as late round wildcards.  If you’re pick 6.12 and you end up with Fadol Brown; can’t complain there – enjoyed his tape, can get after the QB and powerful against the run.

There you have it folks, a six round rookie draft mock, there’s a ton of players on the IDP side that didn’t make the cut BUT will probably find themselves getting draft like Malik McDowell, Duke Riley, Caleb Brantley to name a few – especially in DT required leagues, some of these quality DT’s will find their wait in this draft (my guess is late 3rd).  As always, take this as a template (sorta) and it could help you build your own big board once the draft comes around – I’ll have those rankings coming out around that time too.

Aloha

No Deshaun Watson? No Anthony Walker?

Did Paul Magloire test as a LB? Thought he played SS at Zona…

Love the list – so hard to judge without knowing landing spot on a lot of OLB, if they will play DE or WLB on Sundays

im not a Walker fan, not in my top 10 at least – Watson was tough to get in here, could argue he could’ve gone in the 5th as well. I’m just going off what i’d do at those spots, not following any trends or anything of that matter.

nah Magloire didn’t get invited to the combine, but last i saw he’s a LB *shrug* we’ll see come draft day.

Thanks though, yeah when you see (DE/OLB) I believe those are best for edge rushers in 3-4 but guys like Barnett & Solomon are better suited to stick on the line
