NBA DFS: Targets for 1/31
It’s the last day of January, so let’s finish our NBA DFS month strong with tonight’s 6-game slate! It’s looking to be a night where to you can go one of two ways if you need to choose: balanced or stars and scrubs.
FanDuel is having fun with us again with the, “Around the League” slate. Thank you, to my friend, Brad Altman, for bringing this to my attention!
Russell Westbrook (OKC @ SAS)
DraftKings: $12,300 (PG)
This might be a hot take, but with James Harden, DeMarcus Cousins, and Anthony Davis on tonight’s slate, Westbrook is my favorite top-tier target. Many will see the Spurs match up against the Thunder and shy away. With Enes Kanter, both Westbrook and Steven Adams will have to pick up the load for the Thunder. It’s hard not to like a triple-double machine, especially on DK, where that little extra bonus could give your lineup that extra push.
Brandon Jennings (NYK @ WAS)
DraftKings: $5,100 (PG)
Something to keep in mind is that the Knicks played a game against the Hawks on Sunday that went to its fourth overtime period. This might sway people off Jennings, which is why I like him as a target. I can see some gravitating towards Justin Holiday if they just look at his game log and line of the Knicks’ last game, but 20 of his 36 minutes were in overtime. It’s not the greatest matchup for Jennings, but the minutes should be there.
Bradley Beal (WAS vs. NYK)
DraftKings: $6,800 (SG)
If you don’t want to pay up for John Wall, Beal is a nice pivot. He doesn’t put up the fantasy points that Wall does, but can still get the value you need for his price. Speaking of, it has dropped a little on FD while going up a tad on DK, but you can surely play him on both sites. If you’re looking at Beal’s last game against the Knicks, I wouldn’t worry about it.
Lou Williams (LAL vs. DEN)
FanDuel: $6,200 (SG)
DraftKings: $5,500 (SG)
Williams sees the most minutes and usage (at 32%, over Jordan Clarkson at 25.7%), when D’Angelo Russell is off the court. As of now, Russell is cleared to play but there isn’t confirmation yet if he will or not. The price is steep on FD, but we’ve seen what Williams can do. If we get word early enough, Williams is one of my favorite targets tonight. (Russell is starting without a minutes restriction. You can still take a chance on Williams in GPPs).
Danilo Gallinari (DEN @ LAL)
DraftKings: $6,300 (SF)
Gallinari is a better play on DK versus FD, where his price has really spiked. Against the Lakers though, he could still reach value. The Nuggets will be without Nikola Jokic, and Emmanuel Mudiay is still questionable. According to nbawowy.com, Gallinari sees the most minutes without the both of them on the court, and second is Jameer Nelson. With the Lakers last, and Nuggets second to last in the NBA in defensive rating, this game should be a high-scoring, and high-paced.
Also take into consideration:
Jameer Nelson (DEN @ LAL) – preferably on FD
FanDuel: $5,100 (PG)
DraftKings: $5,600 (PG)
Carmelo Anthony (NYK @ WAS) – preferably on DK
FanDuel: $8,500 (SF)
DraftKings: $7,500 (SF)
FanDuel: $5,5oo (SF)
DraftKings: $5,200 (SF)
Steven Adams (OKC @ SAS) – on both sites
FanDuel: $6,000 (C)
DraftKings: $5,400 (C)
Mason Plumlee (POR vs. CHA) – on DK
FanDuel: $7,400 (C)
DraftKings: $6,500 (C)
